HDD keeps wanting voice commands!

I just got a new 2013 RDX. Often when I am driving, a message appears on the screen and is announced out loud, which says something like "this device is now ready for voice commands". Shortly after, a second message appears and is announced verbally, which says something like "please push the voice button and enter a command". The screen message refers to the HDD device. This occurs when I am not even using the HDD. This message is annoying because it covers the navigation screen for a little while and it drowns out the radio or whatever other audio is playing.

Why do I keep getting this message? Here is a wild guess. I always have a CD in the CD drive, and I may have turned off the car before the CD was completely copied to the hard drive. Is it possible that even though I was listening to the radio, that the HDD continued to copy the CD when I turned the car back on, and then I got this message when the copying was finished? Is it normal to get these messages every time a CD is copied to the HDD? I'm not sure what is expected. I already have the CD in the drive, so why would I want to suddenly switch to the HDD? Is this because the system thinks I would prefer to use voice commands, and that voice commands are available for the HDD and not the CD? Is this even true? Are voice commands not possible with the CD player? If they are, then why does the system seem to want me to switch from CD to HDD if there is no advantage?

Thanks,

Gregg

Yes, that occurs every time after a CD is copied to the HDD regardless of the listening mode (radio, XM, HDD, etc). Once the CD is copied to HDD, you should not receive it for that same CD in the future.

Thanks for the response and for confirming my suspicion. I have not had the car very long, so this seems somewhat irritating, since most of my CDs have not yet been copied. I suppose I will forget all about it, though, after I've gone through all of my CDs once.

Thanks,

Gregg

You will also get this message after connecting an iPod. I believe the system is "indexing" the device so you can use voice commands.

Yes, the system did talk to me when I connected my iPod as well. In fact, it may have announced the name of the song every time I chose one. At some point, I might get used to using the voice system to select music, but I don't think I'll ever like to have the name of the song announced each time I select one. Is there some way to turn this part of the voice system off without turning all of the voice system off?

Thanks,

Gregg
