Front Brake Issue?
Fellow Acura Drivers,
I need some help with my brakes. Myself and my father (been doing brakes for 40 years) put new front brakes on my 2014 RDX, specifically the PowerStop Z23 rotor/pad kit which are slotted and drilled. We went through the bedding in procedure to a T and I used the brakes very gently for the first 500 miles. From the time I put these front brakes on I noticed a loud “humming” vibration noise when slowing down from 60mph right around the 40mph mark that lasted until around 20mph. In addition to the noise, there was substantial brake pedal vibration and steering wheel vibration. I attributed this noise/vibration to my rear brakes/rotors as they were original to the vehicle and in pretty bad shape. We replaced the rear brakes and rotors, but still the noise/vibration remained. The harmonic vibration became so bad when slowing down that my side windows rattled. So now at this point we assumed that I got bad rotors. I know the chances of getting bad rotors from the factory are slim, but I reached out to PowerStop who graciously sent me a new front rotor/pad kit (awesome customer service from PowerStop). We recently put the the new Z23 Kit on the front and went through the same bedding in procedure. I also drove them like a 90year old for the first 500 miles. At first all seemed to be good because I was being extremely light on the brake pedal. Upon stepping into my brakes for the first time, it seems the vibration is back, specifically around the 30-40 mph zone. It gets worse the more weight that is in the vehicle. The vibration is not as bad, but I did hear my windows rattle again from the overall vibration / resonance of the brakes being applied. The steering wheel does not seem to be shaking this time but brake pedal vibration is definitely there. I am really stumped as to what could be the problem. I hardly believe that we got 2 sets of bad rotors. Does anybody have any idea what this issue could be? Could it be that my car doesn’t agree with the slotted and drilled rotors? Or could there be another issue going on? I appreciate any help you can offer!

Try replacing with blanks and see if the problem goes away, there's no reason to be getting slotted/drilled rotors, they provide no use for a daily driven car

The slotted /drilled rotors are noisy when braking.I tried them and couldn't stand the noise and vibration.Standard rotors are all You need.
