Free Oil Changes

Can I expect free oil change 1st year at any Acura dealer or just at one I purchased the car from ? Is this Acura or Dealer thing ?

^when the dealership opens in a few, give them a call to find out without speculations!

it's a dealer thing... i got free tires for life. But it doesn't hurt to call, usually if both dealers are owned by the same company/person, they will honor the agreement. Otherwise the competition has no incentive to give you free oil changes since you did not purchase the vehicle from them...

Just had my first A1 service and I paid for it. Ironically my dealership just sent me a coupon for a free A1 service. So if anyone wants a free A1 service coupon for Performance Acura in Durham, NC, let me know. Expires 12/31/13.

My dealer gave me a free A1 oil change, but then put in 5w-20 instead of the Acura recommended 0w-20, you get what you paid for i guess.

BMW and Audi give free oil changes for 2 years. I wish Acura as a company would step up to match this.

I think those who lease get free oil changes but those who buy have to pay.

BMW & AUDI are also 10-15% more expensive for similar classed cars, nothing is free.

Acura of Denville (NJ) gives free oil changes including oil and filter (up to 4) and tire rotations (up to 2) as needed for two years plus free multi-point check topping off all fluids and washes your car.

ok. thanks. The dealer right next to me, couple miles away, would not discount when I was looking at RDXs. The dealer 40 miles away, gave me the keys to the car and basically told me to bring it back in the evening, before closing. Seems as dealers make the wrong assumption that most of the people are lazy and/or afraid to venture. I can afford the oil change and my time is worth something as well. Simply was trying to figure out whether it was my "right" from Acura or dealer perk. Seems as the latter.

Better than my dealer... whom I called and they want $180 for the A1 service. $180 for an oil change and tire rotation... wow, and I think that is a little over priced.

No way I'd pay that much for an oil change & rotation. It costs about half that for my truck & it takes 15 qt of oil & the tires are big & very heavy.

My dealer didn't say anything about any free oil changes & I didn't ask. We turned down all the add-ons they were pushing at the paper signing...maybe they'd've thrown in some freebies if we'd gone for some of it. I've always done my own oil changes & rotations except for my truck...I'll pay someone to deal with all that yucky stinky oil (it's a diesel) & wrestle the tires that weigh almost as much as I do.

it's a dealer thing and usually the one you purchase the car from. the guidelines are dictated by the same dealer (either through agreement or what their new car purchase policy is).

BMW/Audi...your maintenance pkgs are built into the price of the car for the first 2-3 yrs of ownership. bascially you prepaid for them without knowing it.

Yeah, we could say ANYthng you get on or with the vehicle is PAID for; but I sure am enjoying 5yr/60k mile 'Safe and Secure' bumper to bumper free maintenance(excluding tires) on our Volvo C70. It was a special promo, over and above the 'standard' 3 yr/36k mile 'free maintenance' on other Volvo purchases. Built into the price? Sure, but that buyer who purchased one day before or after the promotion period didn't get it. I'm tickled to have the dealer handling my maintenance, checking for odds and ends, service bulletins, etc.

Could be one of the places to spend that money I save each year by not buying higher octane fuel than my vehicle needs . If you(not specifically YOU, trigirl ) have a trusted indie Honda/Acura wrench who can handle your vehicle...great. I don't, so I'm happy to have the dealer service the vehicle.

i pay for my cars to be dealer queens. i trust few with my cars...not that i have full trust in my dealer...i still have my reservations. however, if anything does go wrong, i know i'll be taken care of without the BS (i know your comment was not directed at me, but i hear ya!).

Updated to my post: I called Pohanka Acura where I bought my RDX and I ask again about their price of the A1 service... this time I spoke to a diffent service manager and he said 'Oh, if you bought the car from us, the first oil change is free... so just $29.99 for tires rotation". Well, it 's done. $29.99.

^^you need to know how to ask for the A1 service. ask for A1 they'll give you the $180 price. Ask for an oil change and tire rotation, they'll give you $45 for the oil change (dino), $70 for synth and $30 for the tire rotation. find a coupon off their website and save a few more bucks.

if you're wondering, your state inspections are free (assuming you live in VA) for the life of your car with you b/c you bought it from them.
