Does Remote Start II FOB open rear gate?

I am looking to purchase a remote start for my '14 Acura RDX. I have seen pictures of the factory remote start fob and there does not seem to be a button to open the power lift gate. Anyone have the factory remote start for the 2nd gen RDX? Can you open your power lift gate with it?

Also does the factory remote start system only come with 1 fob?

I was thinking of getting the Viper SmartStart but heard there where issues with push to start cars.

I have a '14 RDX with the remote starter and I cannot get the thing to open the liftgate. Pretty frustrating.

Remote Start II Manual:

http://owners.acura.com/Linked-Conte...r%20Manual.pdf

The manual (on page 25) specifically mentions that the tailgate should be able to be opened (it actually does not mention power liftgate, just trunk release) by holding the ENGINE button for 1.5 seconds, but I always get the "error" indicator that the trunk could not be opened when I do so.

The kit does come with two FOBs.

Also, keep in mind that the standard key FOB *is still required* to start the car once you are in it. For some ridiculous reason, they did not include that function in the remote start FOB.

Hope this helps..

It's the same way with the remote start fobs for Honda, not shocking, I know. I had one for my civic hybrid and now for the '14 RDX. Not a fan of the two fobs. Mine will not open the power liftgate.

i was thinking about getting the remote start too. how do you guys like it as far as starting the car? how far away can you start it from? through walls? or is it just line of sight like regular key fobs?

wife wanted it until she realized it would cost $588.... to her it's not worth it, especially when the one in my volvo cost $399 and is integrated into my key.

I purchased a 2014 RDX 2 weeks ago and had the remote start installed a couple days ago. The dealership is connected to me personally so I'm confident in their advise. The remote start will not operate the power lift gate, you have to use your Key fob...so two remotes is necessary. According to service, the remote start will unlock the tailgate if you do not have a power lift gate. Go figure, all that $$s for the tech package ( I wanted the HID and fog lights) and have to carry two remotes! Love the SUV (had a 2010) hate carrying two remotes !@

I'm regretting buying the factory remote start system. Carrying a 2nd gigantic fob is annoying, it has limited functionality compared to the regular fob. I think the most annoying part is how the engine shuts off when you enter the vehicle after starting it remotely. At least it seems to have a decent range, and you can start it through walls & other obstacles (sometimes).
