Does anyone miss exhaust tips?

Any of you possible DIY Exhaust candidates?

The part you would be cutting is #2.

You'd probably end up cutting out the area right where the rear reflectors are. If you wanted to stay legal they'd have to be replaced somewhere. Some aftermarket vendor could design a new part #2 with some integrated tips and reflector. You'd have to cut the tip off the existing exhaust, maybe an adapter. I'm sure it is possible, just a matter of how much.

No

No

No

Cute as the exhausts look all chrome-polished on our C70, I can't say I miss them at all on the RDX. (Hmmm...reminds me, I need to polish the chrome exhaust tips on the C70 )

No. I think they would look tacky on a CUV. I'm glad the new MDX got rid of the dual exhaust pipe look as well. Looks a lot classier.

Like 'em on my sports and sporty cars. Don't miss 'em a bit on my RDX. In fact, I don't think I realized the RDX didn't have them for months. (Although I did wonder about the missing rear bumper. )

I don't miss them either.....on the TLX, that would be a different story but for the RDX, I am OK with the decision Acura made to keep the rear a bit cleaner.

I miss them, but it is no big deal. That said, I saw the TLX concept and there were no exhaust tips. Looks like Acura is moving in that direction.

Great idea but if replacing or adjusting the bumper you should also look into adding rear parking sensors.

Acura is missing the boat by not offering a Sport Trim option (maybe it can be part of the SH AWD if it is ever released) with a more aggressive and sportier look for those who want to pay for it.

I think the absence of exhaust.. especially dual exhausts, looks cheap.

But it was just a thought.

I disagree on the cheap comment. It is a style. The sportier car people prefer the tips but the non sportier types prefer no exhaust pipes showing. I apologize if this comes across sexist but think the Soccer mom types and those that don't even realize their vehicle has 270+ horses or 250+ torque prefer a cleaner look. What the Mercedes E class did is make the tips flush with the rear bumper so they don't stick out. The Hyundai Sonata hid the tips for a few years but they are back now. While I like the tips one advantage to no tips is if you are behind the vehicle loading it with groceries then you don't have to worry about the exhaust blowing on you.

You should apologize. There are plenty of people that know a whole lot about cars internal workings and stats that prefer a cleaner look. Look at BMWs. Most have very understated exhaust pipes that either don't show much at all or are a couple of small outlets off to one side of the rear bumper. I think the only cars that look good with dual exhaust with big chrome tips are muscle cars like the Mustang, Camaro, Charger, etc. or very high performance mods like the M3s or AMGs of the world. In those cases, they have actual dual exhaust systems for performance which means they actually do something. In CUVs and all the midsize 4 cyl. cars, the only thing that the look of dual exhaust does for the car is for make believe. Maybe a fake hood scoop would make it look it look faster and sportier too. LOL.

I disagree, actually one of the features I like most is that the exhaust tips are not showing! It is a very classy decision by Acura and one that is the trend on this segment. Looks very clean and sofisticated IMHP

Agreed...I noticed a few vehicles yesterday with the ill-fitting trapezoid-style tips(some of these vehicles are well north of $50K). What's really silly is to see the round exhaust pipe recessed within the oversized wannabe tips.

Doesn't look clean , nor classy. Smells like a cheap attempt to shave money.

First choice: dual exhaust tips, e.g. like the current TSX.
Second choice: hidden exhaust tips
Third choice: single exhaust tip

A set of polished down turns that terminate flush with and about 1''below the valance. That would be the shizz!

I think it gives it an upscale look and also different from all other small suv's on that segment. Most upper end luxury cars at one point were hiding the exhaust pipes. And even though that does not seem to be the case anymore (I see mercedes/BMW showing them) I have to agree with "weather" that on the RDX it works. We respect everyone's opinion however! Happy driving everyone, I am enjoying my black/black RDX inmensely! I have all options except the wood on the dashboard and the towing hitch. It really looks good! :-)

Loved the look on my Audi. Quite like them on the older MDX. Indifferent on the RDX I guess.

Actually I'm glad they don't show. I'm obsessive out keeping mine clean/shiny, and now I don't have to worry about it.

I will absolutely second that. Just something about the overall shape and the different colors that just makes it look terrible. Don't really care for the dual exhaust either but that's the least of the rear end problem IMO. The rest of the vehicle looks alright but once you follow one for a while you really notice just how bad it looks from that angle.

I don't mind the exhaust tips (just hate cleaning them). It just gives you another option if you want to customize your ride. I can understand Acura's reason from moving away from the dual exhaust and make the RDX and MDX more appealing to the masses. I use to hate seeing the +04 RLs with dual exhaust with black soot all over the back bumper.

my favorite is the Jeep style. Mercedes actually does that too where it is styled into the bumper.

The Cadillac CTS has nicely styled tips

and the BMW Alpina XD3. of course it is a 350 HP and 400+ torque version of the X3 where the exhaust may be adding 30+ torque and horsepower

It would look like dual exhaust if the +2013 RDX had chrome trim around the red lower bumper reflectors and you blacked them out.

I'm trying to keep a long-term perspective by saying I prefer it without tips. My old 335 looked great with the dual tips... until they'd get so caked with hard carbon that I'd need a Dremel and wire wheel attachment to get them clean, and even then they'd still look kind of trashy. Since I intend on keeping my RDX a long time, I'll take no tips over crusty and blackened tips any day.

Then again, and no offense meant to anyone here, but I wouldn't have bought an RDX if I wanted a flashy, cosmetic masterpiece...

Well said, what I like about the DRX most is that it is luxurious but at the same time feels kind of rugged. I plan to keep mine wel over 100K so I feel the same way, no tips for me!

I saw the most ridiculous thing yesterday, some guy just bought chrome tips and mounted them on the exhaust pipes showing about three inches below the bumper. I almost took a pic but then decided not to! please everyone DON"T DO THAT! LOL It looks horrible

I had an employee that welded two dummy chrome tips on a Prius lol. We would ask him, ohh your car came with dual exhaust? He would respond " I thought it looked weird without an exhaust".

Glad people are slowly liking the hidden tips.
A lot of people won't like it but it's growing on me.

It's just the tip, stop complaining. :o

^^ I am not sure if its the dual tips that I love so much or the diffuser. I find that a nice sexy diffuser can really enhance the rear of the vehicle.
