Does anyone know if all Acura dealers do the same process? There is a dealer near where my daughter lives that offers this service for $99.95 My daughter has just recently purchased a 2015 model and is right at the three year point.
So just wonder what exactly does the Acura dealer do in their "Brake Fluid Replacement" process...
A) Do they just change what's in the reservoir only?
B) Or reservoir and all four wheel bleeder valves?
C) Or reservoir, all four wheel bleeder valves and activate the ABS pump with dealer computer in order to cycle out that trapped fluid, then re-flush again.
I'll provide a link to what I'm talking about..

If you call the dealer, I'm sure they will tell you what the $99.95 covers. My guess is that they only do a "pad slap" for the $99.95. And by pad slap, I mean they are just replacing the pads. If the rotors need turning or anything else (fluid included) the price goes up significantly from there.

 

I apologize for leaving a word out. I meant to ask about a "Brake Fluid Replacement" I'm new and unable to edit my post.

I don't have the devise that activates the ABS Pump in order to flush that out too. But am considering doing it, just won't be as thourgh..

 

I did called one Acura Dealer and was told that they do the reservoir and the four bleed points at each wheel. I asked about the ABS Pump activation and was told that they do not do that procedure during that particular service.

 

If activating the ABS is all that is needed, that is best done on a snow or ice covered road. Less wear and tear on the tires, etc.

 

I do comprehend that situation will engage the ABS. However, my hopes was that the Acura dealer who already has the devise to activate the ABS, would have offered a true dealer exclusive brake fluid flush service.
One which would have purged as much of the old fluid as feasibly possible.
My bad, for over estimating the dealer's desire to do the job at an A+ GPA.

 

He wants to have the ABS pump activated while the car is on a lift so it will purge the lines of old fluid. If it was done while the car was driving the system would be closed and be of no benefit to the OP.

I realize that. I just do not have a lot of respect for dealer techs. Will they do it? Who knows.

Depends who is doing it. IF the ABS system opens during wheel lock-up and dumps fluid into the main hydraulic lines, I'll just do a second flush a few days later. I do more flushes than recommended...it keeps my bleeders from seizing and the original set of brake calipers are still in my last car totally free and its in its 19th year (pistons and sliders).

 

I had heard of that process... I just did not want to do it all twice in a row.
I was hoping that the Acura dealer would just have done it all for their $99.95 Brake Fluid Replacement service..

From the number of vehicles with ABS, when flushing the fluid, I used a vacuum pump and hooked a hose to the bleed valve to the pump, with the cap off at the Master Cylinder. I would then allow a about a third of the fluid to be pulled down and stop and tighten the valve back up and replenish the MC. Then proceed to the next wheel and do the same. All this takes is about an hour, starting at the back passengers wheel then the drivers back wheel then the passengers front and then of course the last. No need to activate the ABS when doing this,,being doing it that way for years. My 525 BMW wagon was done that way for the last 15 years,,370,000 miles on her and still rolling strong

 

I've been meaning to research the prescribed order to bleed/flush in, for this particular generation RDX. I realize that the order you stated above is pretty much the norm with exception to those that say to do it exactly opposite in order...
Does anyone know exactly what order the Service Manual/Acura Dealer follow? I'm thinking along the line of doing a gravity flush process and would like to know for certain the proper order for this generation RDX.

 

i would be shocked if i heard of any mechanic shop or dealer that replaced the small amount of fluid that was present in the abs system. i do a complete flush of what is in the lines and that is perfectly fine for any vehicle
