Clicking Sound When Brakes Are Pressed
#3
I hear the clicking almost every time the brakes are pressed. Had the car for oil service at the dealer, and they mentioned that the same sound is heard on other RDX w/ AWD Tech Package and therefore could not fix. On old google searches, it appears that some other older Acura's experienced the same. Thanks,

On my SO's 2012 Pilot, we started to hear clicking sounds when applying the brakes during this past winter; however, it only happened when applying the brakes the first time while backing up and then again the first time they were applied when going forward. It was the front pads sliding back and forth in their clip on the caliper according to my Honda dealer. They said that it was normal and not a safety issue; however, they, if i recall correctly, cleaned the pads and lubricated them. Since then we haven't noticed the clicking.
I've never been fond of the "all the other vehicles like yours catch on fire occasionally, so your concern is invalid" logic. The thought that they all could be broken or out of adjustment apparently never enters their mind.

Is there a chance it's the shift lock release switch? I feel like in a new car it'd be pretty quiet but then again I've been in quite a few 2012+ cars that still do it so... foodforthought.

My old CRV does that. Brake clicks whenever there is a change of direction and the brakes are pressed the first time. Then no more clicks after the first click as long as I don't change direction(shift into reverse or going forward).

Anyone get this solved?? Just got new tires. Weather is warming up so I had my windows down and just noticed this same click. It's annoying. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there before. I know I'm due for brakes soon since it's starting to squeak a bit.It happens intermittent. I can't replicate on point all the time. After I brake, then accelerate sometimes. Usually after slowing and after turning then accelerate it happens. Could it be the lugs weren't torqued? Brake pads? Hope it's nothing major. Only hear it in the front. At first I thought I was running over something metal.

Lol yeah.. that's why I was buggin out. Can't believe the tire shop did that. My guess is when they rolled the new tire on, they didn't take off the old wheel weight (the kind on the edge of the rim) and it fell inside so it was clanging against the rims. Now it makes sense why it only happened while I was driving slow, breaking, stoping etc. Driving fast the weight would just pin against the tire due to centripetal force. That's a first that's for sure. Lol.
