Change 2014 Navi to 2016
I have 2014 AWD with Tech package and I was wondering how difficult would be to convert Navi to new 2016 unit. 2014 is made by panasonic vs. 2016 is made by alpine... highly likely that connectors vary and I would have to replace wire harness.
Beside replacing Nav I am thinking to install vented seat as they are operated by touch screen panel (again this might require new wire hardness) & dashboard (meter)....
One might ask why not trade 14 for 16? Based on my research I am looking at 10K delta for car plus 3K in taxes alone making total damage @ 13K (definitely not worth it) ... Switching Navi unit + cables might cost me few thousands (I was thinking buying used 2016 Navi unit off ebay) plus I can sell my old Navi as well..
Thoughts?

You will likely void a bunch of the year electronics warranty and I am guessing there is so many ties to the internal computers that would make this very difficult. Remember AcuarLink ties to the Navi as well. Also the fact that the 16 Navi can interact with both screens I just don't see this ending well. Not sure why you feel thlike need to get the 2016 Navi, coming from 14 RDX Tech to 16 RDX Advance the navi is the least of the changes that are meaningful.

@Keith.. I think 8" LCD screen are dummy screen identical in both models where signal are send from Navi unit... This change has nothing to do Navi functionality as I rate Acura Navi junk... I like new touch screen that 16' offers and it would be a lot easier to operate various feature like XM, music etc...2nd gen interface is bad ..ex: FM only display 6 radio stations, changing to another 6 pre-program channels requires going through AM, XM etc...New interface functionality is what I am after and not Navi... Again this might not be that easy and it would void warranty, but I would love to hear hear broader opinions on this matter.

Don't do it. Too much involved. Upgrading to a 2016 Advance RDX would be a big purchase as well but I don't see this install going smoothly. Sorry OP. Upgrade vehicles or stick with what you have currently.

This is impossible to do as the entire BCM and wiring architecture of the car is completely different between a 2013-2015 and a new 2016.
Visuals don't tell any story, it's the rest of the guts underneath that are nothing alike and impossible to swap.

The change from 14-16 navi doesn't look like a worthwhile effort. Assuming everything works well you're still stuck with a minimal / mediocre improvement in my opinion.

I actually agree that Acura's navi and AcuraLink are awful and I can't wait for CarPlay or Android Auto as Google Maps and Google lookup is a million times better. I loved my A6 navi as it used Google lookup.

You got to pay to play, man. If money is an issue, wait 2 more years for the third generation. At that time your RDX is out of warranty and hopefully you get even better nav system with 3rd generation.
