Battery Drain
Battery Drain
I have a 2018 RDX Advance AWD that lost AcuraLink recently due to the discontinuation of the service for my model year.
Since then I have noticed that my car starts a little slower than normal after a couple of days of not driving it.
Due to that I have put my battery maintainer on it and have not been able to get it to switch over from charging to maintaining after numerous attempts.
Today I decided to do a basic parasitic draw test on the car and at first it was bouncing back and forth between 12 and 21 mA...so all well within normal range.
After a couple of minutes it jumped up to 80+ mA and bounced between there and 60+ mA.
I have not done any testing further than this, but I can only assume this is what is causing my slow starting as well as keeping my charger from reaching the maintenance mode.
My best guess is that whatever module controls the AcuraLink connection is still attempting to phone home occasionally and is causing this battery drain.
I looked briefly at the fuses but could not figure out which one would be the one that powers that module.
Does anyone know where the fuse for it is and what number it is?
Is it possible to just disconnect the AcuraLink module without affecting anything else?
Anyone else notice this same issue?

There are things plugged in to both cigarette ports, but those turn off as soon as the car is turned off.
Those have been plugged in for years so I don't think they would come on all of a sudden when the car is off.
Nothing is plugged in to the OBDII port.

Have you checked some simple maintenance items like cleaning the battery terminals? The other thing I would check is battery condition, and not using one of the hand held devices typical of Advance or AutoZone. Find a shop that will do a proper load test.
I forget if it's true in the RDX, but there are many cars where the cigarette port(s) don't turn off and still get power supplied to them with the car off. If it's something like a dash camera then I would be curious if that is a culprit.
Still have a parasitic draw using my DMM in series between the chasis ground and the negative battery post.
My dashcam and radar detector are hard wired using an add-a-circuit fuse tap connected to one of the fuses that is switched on and off with the car.

I would try disconnecting them and test if there's still a power draw. It'd be nice to rule that out as an issue.
