Adjust Tailgate Opening Height ?
Hi All, is it possible to adjust the tailgate opening height on my 2014 RDX?
Can't open the tailgate when in the garage without hitting the door.
Thanks.

Yeah, we looked at a Toyota RAV4 before we bought our RDX. The RAV4 had an adjustable height tailgate. I wondered why anyone would want the tailgate to stop in a lower position, since it seemed like it would be easier to get stuff in and out of the back if the door were fully open. I decided it was to accommodate people who were too short to push the close button. But after putting it our garage, I realized that the tailgate nearly hit our garage door opener bar. So that's a good reason to stop short of the full opening height!

My daughter has the 2013 Rav4, thats where I got the idea.
My garage is a tight fit with RDX parked in it. I could open the tailgate on our 2009 CRV without it hitting. Right now I have to open the tailgate when I'm in the driveway, not great when it's raining.
Thanks All.

When you pull in the garage head first does the rear hatch door touch the bottom of the open garage door or the panels of the open door? If it's the bottom of the garage door you may have the option of adjusting the door opener to pull the door further back giving you a bit more room.
I had similar issue. Then one day i tried to open my garage door and the chain wrapped around stuff because the drive gear in the unit broke. A new gear, a new adjustment, and guess what? The garage door now opens up maybe 3 inches higher. The issue is the garage door, not the RDX. You could start by adjusting the up and down settings on the door. All you need is a screwdriver into the hole on the side of the motor unit. But some advice: a quarter turn at a time...a quarter turn can make a big difference in the door travel. A bonus is my door doesnt slam down down so much on the ground either.

Depending on your garage configuration, backing in may be good for a lot of reasons, but not for accessing the rear hatch after the vehicle is parked. I've got a piece of foam swimming noodle in the cargo area for just such emergencies...let the hatch open until it touches the foam and becomes wedged between the hatch and garage door. All will be good until your wife hits the garage door button before having the garage door in sight
(Don't ask me how I know this) . For better or worse, remember.
Easier said than done...at least accessing the rear hatch AFTER you park. We've been moving into our new townhouse for the past week and backing in puts the rear of the vehicle too close to the wall/items on the 'inside' of the garage to be able to easily walk behind, open the hatch and then retrieve or load items into the cargo area.

Glad I'm not the only one...my wife brought down garage door on my ML300 hatch, my 2002 MDX hatch, and my 2007 MDX hatch. Just a matter of time, especially living on a corner and with her hitting the open button as she starts to make her left turn/before front of house is in sight.
. Much less likely to happen now; but I made sure she couldn't close the door on the front of the RDX this afternoon, since I had the nose poking out while unloading the cargo area(see above description).
Yeah, it's a darned if you do/don't type of scenario. I'll back in some days so I can let the engine heat travel out the garage door more easily, rather than being trapped in the garage...makes a difference when it's 105 outside!. I don't think exhaust fumes are too problematic if you only spend a few seconds upon ingress/egress with the engine running.
