2018 Fuel Pump Recall

I just got the notice. Issue is with the impeller and if it fails, car won't start or will stop running. Replacement parts not available until fall. Chatted with Acura. I asked what are signs of failing pump and they said I need to contact dealer. I said engine has been used in many models for years, dealer has to have pumps in stock, why do I have to wait until fall and they said no pump inventory. They are clueless. I said can I go to independent mechanic and have pump replaced and send bill to Acura. They said I can do that but if it is determined that my pump did not need to be replaced, then they won't reimburse. I asked how they know if my pump needs to be replaced and they could not give answer. I asked what happens if pump fails on highway, it could be dangerous. They said go to dealer if I have concerns.

Same run around I got when they were replacing defective airbag inflators.

Fuel pump recall

I'm getting the same run around with this recall,it was issued last April so I went to the dealer to book an appointment..We are now going into October and still no stock?
Lucky it hasn't failed yet,I try to stay off the HWY just in case..I have also been getting Blindspot transmission error codes coming up every couple of hundred km.. Being a 2018 with just over 110000 km I was trying to get warranty to cover the cost as it has been doing this for years..The dealer said it is out of warranty and had no answers..I'm guessing torque converter clutch solenoid lockout switch but still digging .The error goes away everytime I restart the vehicle, sometimes it won't come back for months..This will be my first and last Acura/Honda product..I'm typically a Toyota guy and traded in my Tundra to save fuel, biggest mistake I ever made..The way this thing is running it seems worse on gas without any benefits other than error codes and now this fuel pump issue..Probably going to trade it in on a Tacoma and take my loss..Disappointed.

All manufacturers have various issues. Tacoma's have recalls right now for engine failures and axel shaft separations.
