2017 RDX Extended Warranty?

I am planning to purchase a 2017 RDX with Tech and AcuraWatch. Because I typically keep a car for 10 years or more, the dealer is encouraging me to purchase a 10 year/125K Comprehensive service contract from Zurich for a whopping $3163. Any advice?

Obviously not! Acura is one of the most reliable vehicles one can buy. Just maintain it properly and you should be fine IMO.

Buy from Saccucci Honda or other dealers online. You'll save a lot of $$$ and pay no sales tax if out of state.

I've bought from Saccucci before and just bought a HondaCare 7/80 for $805 no deductible with no sales tax for my Accord.
Dealer wanted $1249 + sales tax discounted.
Saccucci sells Honda and Acura Care .

Other dealers selling discounted warranties.

Here is a better suggestion. Take the $3163 they want for the warranty and open an "RDX care account" at your bank. Then you get to use the money no matter what and not have to hope something breaks during the 10yrs...

I've never bought an extended warranty for anything. Instead, I buy quality products.
And if I did buy an extended warranty, I would only buy one from Acura. In other words a factory warranty, not some third party warranty.

That's not a good deal....I don't see how anyone could stay under 125k miles for 10 years. Heck I drive 50k miles a year!

If you are considering buying an extended warranty, don't buy ANYTHING but AcuraCare. It's the only Acura backed warranty. You don't want to have do deal with all the nonsense of having to go back and forth between your dealer and a third party warranty company as to what is covered vs. what isn't. Or what is considered reasonable and customary and the dealer charge is more, etc.....
I personally have purchased two AcuraCare warranties from Juliana at Bernardi. In terms of using them - I made out very well on one and had some major repairs covered under the warranty. The other one ultimately wound up costing me $$ as I got little or no use out of it.
I'm on the fence about buying another one for our 2016 RDX Advance. My concern is all the electronics and gadgets in it.

If I were buying a German vehicle, absolutely I would have an extended warranty factored into my pre-purchase spreadsheet. Based on family history and my former next door neighbor who seemed to have a loaner BMW in his driveway more often than his own car. Oh and the neighbor across the street who seems to have a loaner a lot when is Audi is illl.

I bought the extended warranty for my '01 TL but the only issue late in the warranty term was a front strut, which cost a lot less than what I paid for the warranty.

The setting up of a savings account, mentioned above, is the best idea. No extended warranty with Acura or Honda products.

I've owned various Honda products since the Accord came out in 1976. They have been in for unscheduled maintenance twice in that entire time and nothing major.

Easy, some of us have five motorcycles and a sports car. Hell, I put 5000 miles on one motorcycle in one month and that was on the twistiest roads in Austria and Italy.

I would wait because you still have your basic 4/50,000, 6/70,000 powertrain, and any other extended 100,000 miles warranties Acura might apply down the road. You still have until the 4/50,000 basic warranty expires to purchase Acura Care. I waited until 3yrs/11 months before purchasing an additional 5/120,000 miles Acura Care for my 11 MDX Adv for $2390 from Acura of Peoria in AZ because of the magnetic suspension (I live in NM, no sales Tax online advantage compared to purchasing local). Last year, Acura offered an extended 100,000 warranty for the magnetic suspension for the 07-13 MDX and ZDX. I've only used my Acura Care for replacing my two front seat heaters for about $600 (I did get a loaner +14 MDX for about 7 days total both times with Acura Care). Between my three Acura's, it has been batteries, alternators, power steering pumps, seat heaters, sun visors, one blown speakers, or door actuators for +375,000 combined miles. All ELS, Navi, bluetooth, powertrain, and safety tech (ACC, BSI, CMBS, etc...) have been good to go.

Acura Care will not kick in until the Basic and Powertrain warranties expires. If you purchase now, the dealership is just going to make interest off the $3163 until the 4/50,000 and/or 6/70,000 expires.

In any case we all can agree buying a 3rd party warranty is foolish and paying $3163 makes it even worse.
