2015 weld bolt size and pitch

Hey all,
I purchased a Curt hitch receiver and I can't get the 1/2 - 13 1 1/2 bolts that came with to bite the threads on my 2015 RDX. Does anyone know what the true diameter and thread pitch is for the 2015 RDX?

Many thanks in advance!

I installed a Curt 13130 hitch on my 2014 RDX a few years ago. As I recall, I struggled to get the bolts to bite, but ended up cleaning the holes in the RDX pretty aggressively with a wire pipe brush. This was called for in the instructions that came with the hitch. I think there was a coating / paint that prevented them from working. The bolts eventually worked fine - I didn't buy anything different, and the hitch has remained solidly mounted since.

That is because the M12 x 1.25 bolts, bolt into the chassis nuts on the car. They are METRIC, so is the RDX.

The 1/2-13 bolts are SAE and bolt into the so-called handle nuts that are included with the trailer hitch.

If you have trouble starting the bolt, you can run a M12 x 1.25 tap through them to remove the zinc coating in the threads of the nut.

See attached PDF.

I had this issue as well with Curt. There is rust built up in the nut attached to the frame. Do no manually force the bolt in, as it will rip the nut off the frame. Two options available on getting the bolt in. 1. Heat up the nut and screw the bolt in. 2. Add lubricant into the nut and slowly screws and unscrew the bolt several times, eventually it will go in smoothly. The second option took about 30 minutes to get it in smoothly.
