For those who have seen the RDX in person, how small is it? How would you compare the size to a TL (the current one)? I am driving a 2004 TL now, and I am considering the RDX, but I just don't want to be driving a much smaller (but taller) automobile.

I went to a NAIAS in January...its pretty small...much smaller than i expected. Its like....maybe the size of a Rav 4 + 2 inches in every way

 

It is suppeseed to be around 181 incues long. The current TL is about 193.

 

The reaction I've heard from most people that have seen the prototype at the autoshows has been "looked smaller than I expected on the inside, but bigger than I expected on the inside"

 

.....than the TL. Like others have said above it will be 181 inches long, which is virtually identical to the new Toyota RAV4 at 181.1 inches length.

As a reference point, here are the specs for comparison purposes:

TL is 189.3 inches long (RDX is about 8 inches shorter than the TL)

RL is 193.6 inches long (RDX is about a foot shorter)

MDX is 188.5 inches long (RDX is about 7 inches shorter)

TSX is 183.5 inches long (RDX is even 2.5 inches shorter than the TSX!!....how exciting is that!!! )

For anyone that wants a big long schoolbus here is what I (and Acura) have to say

Acura has been going on a FANTASTIC trend lately as far as the size of their vehicles are concerned, and I totally applaude them for taking that stand in this country where the stupid "bigger is better" theme rules . They made the new TL shorter ....then they made the new RL shorter and now I hear that the redesigned MDX WILL NOT be longer than the current one (THANK GOD FOR THAT!!!)

My mother has a 2003 honda crv and she wants to get rid of it and is looking at the rdx. But the rdx in pictures looks alot smaller. I've read some posts but has anyone heard anything new regarding width or height??? I know the length is roughly suppossed to be 181 in. I saw in a video clip online that acura is making the rdx a driver oriented vehicle and the car is not meant to carry rear passengers so their is little leg room. Does this mean less leg room than the crv?? If anyone knows anything please post. I drive a 2003 tl 3.2 and that back seat is really cramped. I hope the rdx isn't similar. Thanks -Jeremy
