I am in the market for RDX with tech. Just wonder if anyone here own both RDX and TL and give me a comparison.

I owned 2009 TL and sound system is excellent. I know RDX setup is not the same and it is not as good as TL, but how far behind it is compare to TL?

 

I owned a 09 TL AWD Tech and the gf has a 14 RDX Tech, and the biggest differences I notice are due to the open cabin of the RDX and sub placement, but it is still a damn good system. the RDX ELS beats my Audi Bose and the 5.1 Bose that was in my Infiniti.

 

wow better than the bose I thought my rdx sounded like crap I added a 300 watt amp & swapped out the factory sub for a kicker comp. helped with the base but mids still suck compaired to my bose in my 2012 gmc truck

 

The ELS to me has very clean sound, not the most powerful, but clean. The Bose in my M37S the lows were all muddy and boomy. The Bose in the A6 is tighter and cleaner than my Infiniti, and has some power, but not as clean as ELS.

 

Sounds good, definitely get the tech. Now just the matter of hunting for goog deal.

 

I had a 2010 TL and have the 14 RDX and personally I think the TL had better sound. It was both more powerful in a smaller space. That said, the RDX is more than adequate and I love it. To me, the Tech package is worth the stereo system alone over the base, not to mention the bigger information screen and larger back-up camera, power liftgate.

 

I had a Toyota with a JBL system, then I got a Toyota with a stock system. It was a huge adjustment, then I got the Civic - which sounded a lot better than the stock Toyota system. Now my RDX has the ELS sound system and I'm blown away.. My house has a Harman/Kardon system in it and I think the ELS sounds better than that..

 

OP....I have a 2012 TL and had a 2013 RDX....Once you take a few minutes to play with the speaker setup, the system in the RDX is actually better in my opinion. The factory setup is not great....the centre channel is too loud and I had to put the fade with a little more rear bias, it will sound amazing.

 

I have no complaints with the ELS system. Very good source material sounds very good. Crappy source material sound crappy. Pretty much works for me.

 

The ELS system is definitely crisp and clean. I had a Bose in my old TL, as KeithL stated the lows were muddy. I upgraded to an 08 TL Type S and the ELS is great. I really can't complain. It's enough to the point that I don't feel the need to add aftermarket components.
