2022 NSX Type-S

Hey,

Looks like there will be a Type-S for the NSX next year.

Wonder how much HP they're going to give it.. 650hp hopefully and 300lbs of weight reduction?

Release is Aug. 12th. 350 to be made world wide....300 for U.S. That's it. This will end NSX production with these 350 Type S models.

It's 08/12/21 and I haven't seen any more information on the NSX Type S. Does anyone know if the release date has changed?

LMAO are you kididng me? All that hype, a limited run of 350 units, and it gains a whopping 27hp? That's almost a rounding error for a car that made 573.

they are still trying to keep the price so what conservative. The base nsx 0-60 was already 2.7 to 2.9! Lol what else are you expecting?

honestly dropping the weight increasing the electric motors and hp makes for an more interesting vehicle. Sad Acura waited this long to make these changes.

also retuned DCT for 50% faster up shifts.

the specs on this vehicle is quite impressive now.

This is more befitting on a midcycle refresh than a Type S model. Heck, the Supra got twice the power bump randomly after just one year. The problem is that the Type S is supposed to be significantly better than the regular model. This is undoubtedly better, but I don't think anyone would say this is significantly better.

this is a type s not a type R.

I would be interested see what it does on the track. the specs already stated is shaved off 2 seconds off is lap time on the Circuit. I also think Acura is more focused on the next gen NSX.

Exactly, it's a Type S, not a Type R, which means the improvements should be more geared towards power than towards setting lap times.
RSX Type S added 40hp
2G CL/TL Type S added 35hp
3G TL Type S added 16hp (boo)
2G TLX Type S added 83hp

NSX Type S adds 27hp, or less than 5%. That ain't an Acura Type S in my book.

it’s not all about HP when these cars are already crazy fast but They also increase the electric motor output, decreased the weight and retuned the DCT.

The reason why the regular NSX failed was because of the price point (Should have been a good $25~40K cheaper) and also because of the hideous front bumper that has mismatch grills...

Yes you are correct. I purchased a Porsche Turbo S Cabriolet instead. I wanted the NSX but when I saw the price I chose to purchase something worthy of that price point.
