Won't up shift

My transmission has been acting strange intermittently for the last two weeks.
Today I thought it failed for sure, I started out at moderate speed, in d-5.
I kept accelerating and the transmission wouldn't shift. The tack quickly went to 7000 rpm so I backed off the gas, and it shifted to second gear. A few miles later it seemed to wanted to stay in second gear.
The car only has 25,000 miles. Fluid is full and red.
Anyone else had this problem ?

Did the tach go to 7,000 without the car accelerating?

No it was still accelerating,but it surprised me when it wouldn't shift into second gear . It was just like I had selected low, but i was driving normal in D-5

What speed were you traveling? The car won't go into 2nd gear unless you are below 55-60mph.

I started out from a traffic signal from a complete stop. The car stayed in first gear and continuing to accelerate until I let off the gas , when i realized that it wasn't going to up shift.

So it wouldn't upshift from 1 -> 2?

I'd have it checked out. Were you going under wide open throttle? If so the car won't shift until after 7000rpm (if you have a type-S).

Thumbs down

The dealer checked the car, and said the transmission has failed.They ordered a replacement transmission.
Sad for a car with less than 25,000 miles.
They indicate the replacement solves the problem. I'll see.

My problem seemed to start several months ago. At around 37 mph , I would sometimes feel a slight jerk when the transmission would up shift. This was only once or twice a week. This week it became much worse as described above.
It sure wouldn't hurt to getyour car checked.
I was afraid that the car wouldn't shift at all as it got worse.
