tranny worry
How worry should I be about this....20% failure rate is high for any car. I want to drive the car fast on the freeway and not have to worry about the tranny locking up on me and causing an accident.

What is 4% how many cars is that? is it really 4%? I am so worried now.....
Um I am going to quietly walk away now, because I have no idea how I confused you.

So I should not be worried? When I did some research on yahoo and found a bunch of people with the transmission problem all over the net. What gets to me is how Acura will replace the ECU with a more conservative one and the accidents caused by the tranny failures.

It seems most of the CLs on this board have gone out. If you are going to be worried about it, don't get the car. I had mine, was worried, tranny went out once, and was acting up the 2nd time, I ditched the car and been happy since.

The new A4 has a good reliable record. Don't judge it by other cars.

The failure rate is no where near 20% as everyone already stated... Acura is claiming around 2%, but it's probably closer to 3 or 4%.
At the time the problem began Honda/Acura was saying there was about 1.4 million cars that COULD be affected. 3% of that is 42,000... which a low number. In a perfect world it wouldn't even be that high, but as far as industry standards go... it's average.
Just relax and enjoy the car... that's what the warranty is for.

Just wait till you hit 100k on an A4.. sure the transmission is something to be concerned with on a CL, but the engine and build will last for many years.. longer than an Audi engine...

Wow, thanks for the replies. I am not complaining about the Cls, I got it because of (top 3 reasons) Power, Nav, equipment level. I have stated this before, I got (05/10/03) my 01 CLs with Nav 3,800 miles for 23,000. Basically a brand new car..so I am not complaining. Looking forward to installing headers in a month or so, MORE POWER!!!!
