Hello I am now in the market of a new car and the 03CL will be on top of my list !! I heard about the tranny problem on most of the 01-02 models, but what about the new 03 model ?? from what i've read only the type-s has the problem right ?? manual or automatic ?? i would really like to get the type-s..... also i asked the salesman about it and she said the free extended (7years-10000miles) warranty only applies to the 01-02 models. is this true ?? your opinions are appreciated.

 

Early 03s suffered from tranny problems (auto). At least a couple of folks had some synchro issues with the 6-speed, which were replaced by warranty anyways.

Six speed is fine....only a few spotty issues that are to be expected with any car. The 5AT, however, is prone to a failure rate that has been put at about 2%, but it seems to be a bit higher than that to me. I would not get the 03 5AT, because there is no extended warranty, and I don't know that Acura was able to perform such a quick fix and be effective. If I was going to buy a CL right now, I would learn to drive a stick, and get the 6MT.

 

hmm i am driving a stick and i hate it ever since i moved to s.cali.... all the traffic !! i will definitely go for automatic this time.
