hi all, so i turn on my engine today, and i try to shift, but its stuck! it's not due to wheel lock so i have to resort to the shiftlock release. i've had to do this several times today to shift out of Park. Anyone know if this is a sign of a failing tranny??

My guess is that the solenoid that allows you to shift out of park is not operating properly. It could be the brake pedal switch that would operate the solenoid (since there is a brake pedal-shift interlock on our cars). This is why they have the shiftlock release.

The failing tranny symptoms include harsh shifting .. slipping .. no wheel movement when transmission is in 'gear'.

Document the times/conditions in which it occurs and take it to the dealer.

so how much would it cost to fix/replace it if that is the problem?
