Check engine light with failing trans.

Has anyone that has had failed or failing transmissions had the check engine light come on as a indicator something was up? I am having some shift issues with my trans and the dealer is being a real pain about it saying if the check engine light doesn't come on then there isn't a problem.

This is my first CL and maybe i am confused on how these cars shift but here is what i am seeing.

From P to D there is about a 3 sec delay before trans is ready to go. From R to D is about the same. From P do R there is no delay. Next issue is when i have in D5 there is about a 2 second delay during harder acceleration between shifts. During slow accerelation the delay is same but trans doesn't seem to know what gear to use. Seems to upshift before it really needed to and ends up down shifting again.

Dealer says they can't duplicate. Am i expecting too much here? Have never had a automatic trans act this way before.

Yeah .. I went through this for 6 months .. "no error codes .. no problems" .. blah blah blah .. the dealers are scripted .. when my tranny finally died (slipping all over the place . no reverse) .. guess what .. there were NO error codes .. NONE ... no lights . .nothing .. you're just stuck with it until it fails because acura will do NOTHING

Zactly what I figured. Don't quite understand why the dealers don't just take care of it. It is a warranty item anyway and they get payed by Acura. Would think they would want the customers to be happy not ticked off. Not good for furture business.

Thanks for your info DivinDude

sAME THING

went to dealer with problem and they said "now light on and we can't get it to reproduce the problem. I took them for a ride and my car was hopping from 1 to 2nd real bad. They said that it was normal, and that it did not need to be replaced. 4 months later back in shop with dash board lit up like a christmas tree check engine, VSA won't go off. Hopefully they will change this time.
First time I went they tech offered me to take my car out and try and loose the transmission and bring it back????WTF and hurt my car even more???? um NO!!
