Am I experiencing a tranny prob?

I drive the 2001 5 speed auto.
When I back it and the tranny goes into gear, it makes a metal clicking sound, and its not SUPER loud, but loud enough for someone to hear it 10 feet from the car. Also, when I go in drive, it does the SAME thing. Finally, when I go in sportshift and switch gears, every time I force it into gear a little, it does that same CLICK! (it's some kind of a metal clicking together)

Any ideas?

I forgot to add something:

Also, when I'm in sportshift and I try shifting from 2 to 3, sometimes it just won't go into gear, I have to completely get out of sportshift, come back and then it will work. It hasnt been doing it lately, but that's another problem I experienced.

Any help is great.
Thanks

Metal sound is probably not good. Upon cold start I notice a click out of mine too, but has done it for over 20k miles now. If it is doing it when in SS mode
Hows your tranny fluid color ?

i'm bringing the car in wednesday. I'll keep you posted about the situation.
However, I just hope they don't try to screw me over and tell me there isn't anything wrong. I hope they go ahead and replace the whole tranny!

If it truly is a problem, but I wonder what they are going to do since the whole "tranny recall" has not officially begun.

Are you guys aware on which circumstances they will actually change the whole tranny? Do you think my problem is fixable without changing the tranny, or do you think my car falls into the "changing tranny category" ?

my car has less than 35000 miles. I guess it may be a minor problem than. By reading at that press release you posted, I think my car's tranny is fine for now.
Anyways, they mentioned they were going to mail every acura cl-s owner.... I wonder if that applies to people from Canada

Call Acura Care.

Car's fail with only 4000 miles on them (and I'm not saying they all fail).

Why not have the car checked out?

The wording on the recall and press releases needs to be scrutinized. They are only saying that the issue that the recall addressed -- the 2nd gear/shaft problem/squirter -- is of minimal impact to "most" people.

If you have some other problems, and are not just getting the shift fork click from going into reverse, etc, you should have someone check the sucker out (just my opinion).

If you DO need a tranny, see about getting a NEW one and not a REBUILT one.

Couldn't hurt to ask -- ok?

if you're getting a click going between reverse and drive (almost sounds like a manual gearbox) it's supposed to be normal per acura (mine has done it since day 1).

You have a gear box and transmission. Special model? House blend?

"Greased up"

"Gear box AND transmission"

Did they offer to lube your tires and springs?
