Time to buy tires...

Nee help on what to get. I went around and started doing some pricing on new tires in the Miami area. It looks like I'll be spending about 600 for 4 tires mounted, balanced and alignment. I guess thats not too bad. So I've got 3 choices right now: Yokohama AS430, Uniroyal HP Touring, and Bridgestone Potenza G009. Right now I am liking the bridgestones the best. Anybody have any comments on these three. I am going by what the stores have. I do not want to buy online and then have them installed somewhere. It's too much work for me. I'm lazy.

I personally don't have any experience with the G009s but they're very good tires accdg to Consumer Reports. Check the Tire Rack reviews, too, for a second opinion.

at least go to tirerack and get the prices. it'll give you some bargaining when at the tire store.

I just put the G 009's on my Accord about a month or so ago and so far they are great. At first I didn't like them but because they felt kinda funky until they are broken in within the first 150 miles. Now they are smooth and perform great. They are a tad noisy but if you have your radio on all the time like I do, you wont notice it.

What are you looking from tires? How do you drive? We don't need all seasons in FL.
From the tires I have used...

Toyo T1S(discontinued)
Toyo T1R
General Exclaim UHP(current tires)Great tire & the ones I'd recommend, but they are on factory backorder right now.

I got Fuzion (Bridgestone) HRi's for that same price and I'm happy with them. Excellent wear and good in water situations, which are my top 2 concerns. Not a performance oriented tire, but still stick very nicely with my drop.

I am looking for a good ride, low noise and good wet weather traction. I am kinda limited to what they have at the store. Basically most decent tires are about 100 a piece which isn't too bad. I may go with the Bridgestones....

You have more money than sense if you think its too much trouble to buy online. You have the pick of almost any tire you want and at a much more affordable price then local. Plus I don't see how its anymore work, you can go to tirerack or discount tire and choose what tire you want. Then place your order and have then shipped to the install place of your choice. Generally you will also get an install discount since you bought online.

Personally Ive ran Yokohama ES100 and Kuhmo Estca SPT. Yoko's had slightly better grip and cornering but didn't have the proper load rating and poor wear. Im still on the Kuhmo's and would buy again

Not true. I have more money than time though. I have been searching for deals online and they are not any cheaper with shipping and installation than the tire stores for the same tire.

You must have some unique local stores... None of the local stores around this area can even get close to online pricing

Did a search on tirerack for Bridgestone potenzas. They had them for about 109 each. With shipping and mounting/balancing that would probably be well over 500. I can get them locally installed and aligned for 560. Now if I was buy cheap tires maybe I could save some money but not with decent rubber.

Shipping is generally around $30 and mounting and balancing is generally ~40 at most places if you tell them you bought from tire rack. That comes out to $506, which is less than $560

Any way im not arguing with you, I know which is cheaper for me

I got 4 new tires (see above) mounted, balanced, installed, warrantied, and my car aligned for $600 out the door. If I blow a tire I just go to the store, pay $10, and get a new one.

Don't waste your time online if you're just getting tires. Give a shop the revenue and they will take good care of you.

Thank you! Someone with some common sense.

I'll probably get the bridgestone in a week or two when I can fit it in my schedule.

I've got the Yoko AS430's (in stock size) but I bought them because I need an all-season tire up here in New England. Cost was about 650 with alignment, balancing, road hazard warranty, etc. I wouldn't have considered them if I lived in an area that didn't get snow.

Just read that you guys have 7 inch width stock rims. Which means you guys are running 215's. Hope you guys aren't running wider tires thinking it provides more traction, cause it doesn't. You'll have less thread contact to the ground, and you'll sacrifice handling with the side walls bulging over the rims. You want your sidewalls to look like this |. Because this \ or this, / means streched tires or bulging tires (too wide or too small). And you don't get the amount of contract thread that you think you're getting! Think of running wider tires than you should as running on over inflated tires. You get that rounded top...

Anyway's, for Falken Ziex Ze 912, you can find them for $64/each online. Or your Toyo Proxies 4 for $90/each.
