Question Should I replace shocks/struts now?

Well, guys, I've had my 01 CLS for over 8 years now and it has 125K miles on it. I'm afraid it's about time to put the stock springs back on it because I'm tired of buying tires (no camber kit) . I currently have the H&R springs at 1.5" drop (if I remember correctly). I just bought my wife a 03 TLS and the ride is SO much better which is more important to me now.

My question is, if I am going to pay $300 to swap the springs, should I replace my shocks and struts (damn they're expensive) at the same time? I still have the stock, but they still seem responsive. What would you guys do?

If those are your original shocks then YES when i did my shocks and struts after 150K they where shot if your gonna go through all that trouble why pay to so something twice?
I got shocks and springs for $450 for the whole kit.
You can find kits that come with shocks and spring that come out cheaper then buying both seperatly.
B&G where $460 shipped from Excelerate (a vendor on the site)
Eibach you can find for about $500 shipped if you look around.
OR
You can go with tockio blue's just shocks for $320 and springs $200-$300.
There alot of choices out there and ALOT of post about them.
I have the B&G which lowers it 1.6 inches front and back and I love it thus far and it has a lifetime warrenty that they stand behind!

since you mentioned that the ride quality is important, and you are going to be purchasing new springs, I would go ahead and replace the shocks too. Only because you had aftermarket (h&r) springs on OEM shocks which more than likely wore out the shocks

assuming you paired lowering springs with stock original shocks, then just change the shocks and your ride will be golden. No need to go back to original springs. Get something aftermarket like tokico blues. stay away from KYB GR-2s cause those are meant for stock suspension systems

Thank you guys for your input. You're correct aznboi2424, I have the OEM shocks on after market springs. I guess I forgot to mention that I still have the OEM springs in the attic. They probably only have 35K miles on them so I'll probably use them. I'll check out the shocks you guys mentioned, and hopefully I can find a good deal on some.

you dont like the firmer ride with aftermarket springs? it might be okay with aftermarket shocks. worn shocks, of course will ride worse then new shocks

If your looking for the stock ride again, slap on the oem springs w/ some new shocks of your choice and it should feel like new again.

I don't understand how you need to keep buying new tires from your 1.5" drop camber?? I've been fine for 2 years now, no uneven wear with the same drop.

Okay but for srs, if you want a stock feel and a bit of drop, like everyone has already said, KYB's with something...NF's or H-Techs?

Is it possible that your shocks are blown hence the rough ride?
