Ride quality question
Ride quality question
Why does my CL still ride like CRAP!! I've replaced my springs and shocks and it still does not take bumps or pot holes good at all!
It seems like it "wobbles" over bumps instead staying firm. Also I hear the "clunking" sound when I go over bumps now where I didn't before. Am I going to have to get new tires again to solve this problem? The suspension still feels cheap and flimsy. Can anyone give some advice. I got Tanabe springs and Tokico blue shocks but not new tires yet. I don't remember the car riding like this when new, so what else needs to be replaced?

so how old are the shocks? any other weird noises coming from the suspension.
try doing the classic "rock the car" test and test the shocks. when i do the test my car is pretty firm and it has stock shocks, ride pretty good too.

Did u check the rubber bushings that hold up the front and rear sway bars?
My rubber bushings where ALL broke so I replaced my Rear sway bar (It came with polyurethane bushings) and bought some rubber OEM bushings for the front.
Also you should change your Sway bar links I goot moog they are 2x beefier then the OEM. I would check those 2 first!

Heeltoe sells polyurethane bushings so find out how thick the front and rear bars are and buy these..
I am gonna get these for the front , since the progress RSB all-ready comes with them 4 da rear!

Good vendor bought stuff from him b4!

Thanks for the reply guys, the shocks/springs were installed back at the end of March 09' so they are not old. The sway bars are Eibach and they are not even 2 years old. Maybe new tires will help alot but it may not. I know going about an 1" lower would probably make the car ride rougher but sometimes it's down right obnoxious.

Like Chickes said we all had this problem..
My car b4 i started upgrading EVERYTHING drove like crap and every little bump i hit it sounded like it was gonna fall apart at the next bump.
This is what i did and the cost and now it drives like a Whole new car!
shocks and springs : B@G $460 (some people on here says i went cheap buy I think they are great)
Sway bar links : Moog $80 4 all 4
RSB : Progress $150 (came with polurethane back bushings)
Front sway bar bushings: OEM $10 w/brakets
Those are w/o install i did alot of the installation on my own w/alot of help!
Now car is 100%

Thanks Stoned. I guess in time I will try some of that. BTW Stoned I installed my blackwood steering wheel a few weeks ago. Looks good and saved myself some cash. I didn't need a steering wheel puller.

like $120 or summtin like that?
Yeah u really dont need a wheel puller..
That was one of my fav mods cuz my old wheel would peel and rub off on my hands when it was raining or really humid!
Hey Stoned, yes I did. Pretty easy mod to do. Oh and back to this thread, I put a good set of used tires on the CL and it solved the problem. Now that I know this I will save some dough and put a great set of Michelins on early next year.
