I paid $120 something per for my Yoko's AS430's all seasons... I was going to go with the Yokohama H4S/V4S, but my tire guy talked me out of it... Since I went with the stock 215/50/17 93V in all seasons there are only so many choices in that size...

You must have a local tire place, no ?? Discount Tire or something... Figure out what kind of tires you want and check the phone book and call around...

I paid $650 OTD for 4 tires w/ the works (mounted, balanced, 4 wheel alignment, road hazzard, new valve stems, free tire rotation for life, etc etc) from http://www.townfairtire.com/

I was going to go with the Nokian WR but there aren't that many dealers around, and I didn't want to deal with a tire with limited availability.

Rip off... way too much for tires from them, especially if in U.S. dollars. Like mentioned you can get yoko's that are much better which are a heck of a lot cheaper. Hell, you can get Nokian tires for cheaper than that ($210). Toyo make some great winter tires for under $200 along with some of the Dunlops. *ALL MY PRICES ARE IN CDN*

Which tire from them were you looking at? What size?

About the need of winter tires, it all depends on where you live and how much slow actually falls. Snow tires are fantastic when your driving home during a blizzard which snow has already accumulated. If you drive on roads that are usually clean, then maybe a solid pair of all season tires will suffice better.

I had great service from edgeracing.com I ordered the toyo proxes 4 tires and they are pretty good in the snow, but also handle very well also. Edgeracing will ship them directly to you or to a shop that will mount them for you.

ps Tire Rack is also very good, but I don't believe they carry Toyo tires.

Toyo T1R's set of 4 mounted & balanced with tax & road hazard is just under $700 for me. You don;t need to spend that much though if you don't want to. You certainly don't need to spend anywhere near $200/tire. That's just dumb.
