H&R Sport Springs - #51858 or #50103?

Okay, so there are two different H&R Sport springs that work for our car, not including the OE sport springs. The 51858's originally made for the Accord, I think, but work for our car, and the 50103's made for our CL's.

I'm wondering if anyone has any pics of the difference between the two H&R Sport Springs (not the OE). I have the 50103's but read in a search that these are basically the 51858's for the front and the OEsports for the back. That makes me think RAKE, which is not what I want. So I'm hesitant to put them on. If I want the even drop that everyone talks about with the HR sports, do I need to sell my 50103's and go with the 51858's?

Thanks!

[QUOTE=ccannizz11, and the 50103's made for our CL's.

Thanks![/QUOTE]
where 'd you get this info...according to H&R's web site there are no springs for the CL...however anything made for the 6th gen AV6 should be fine...also i notice those springs you mentioned look like they are made for the Tl which to me would be the better choice...im not sure if you're seeing in those pics but the rear is dropping more than the front...

if you goto H&R there is no listing for the CL...however the TL ones are probablly the best choice

H & R vs Eibach

After doing some research, it was down to the H & R and the Eibach Sports...
I called "Clark's House of Suspension" down here in So. Cal (Lake Forest). He
only does Suspension work and told me both products were good and never
had any problems with either... So, i went with the H & R 858s since they are
far cheaper.. I ordered mine through www.howbarmotorsports.com
(Thanks Psd112) for $136 shipping, tax etc. included.. I will have clark install
since i don't have the tools and an alignment is recommended. He charges$250
complete.. (BTW, currently, shox.com charges $199... an EBAY seller Power Garage
with shipping and CA tax comes out to around $154) ... will install around MidAugust
and will post results and comments then...

Congrats on the great price, I just looked and they're going for $165. How'd you get a good price? Can you hook a brother up?

Wow thats a great price for H&R's. I was gonna go with the OE's, but I guess I'll stop being a pussy and get the Sports. I am just stuck between Illumina's and Koni Yellow's.

Z13,
I am just going to go with the stock shocks for now.. I also am staying with the stock
tires and rims (i have the chrome TL rims though) and will be adding some new
215/40R17s tread so, the sport drop should be the right touch...i hope... will
add my after all said and done..

So your saying that we can go ahead and buy these (for my 2003 CLS) springs for the accord and they are the same ones as the ones for $167? Are there any problems with this or am I missing something?

$167???

Well, H & R doesn't officially make springs for our CL-S....I've called them
etc.. so, the guys here are going with the 858s for the Accord and finding
no problems..$136 delivered.. I will have them installed next Friday and
will then be the final judge...

The front/rear weight balance on the CL appears to be very similar to the Accord so 51858 result in an almost equal drop and 50103 gives a Comptech like rake.

The TL however is heavier in the rear and 50103 is a better choice (slight rake as opposed to 51858 which gives slight reverse rake)

A fist full of pounds

Yeah, i did some rough wt comparisions and the TL overall is about
27 lbs heavier (S-Type).. Doesn't sound like much but depending
how the wt is distributed i guess it could show... I believe our CL-S
were also about 25 lbs heavier than the V6 Accord...Okay, well, i'll
see the difference next Friday and will also take some before and after
shots....

I had the 51858 (OE sport) on my 6-speed and the drop was not even. I think its because the 6-speed is a bit less front heavy compared to the automatic. I swapped out the front OE sport for sport springs and the drop is even (same as the 50103 kit).

Here is a pic of my CL with 51858 springs. The pic was taken 1 week after installation. The car has since settled evenly a little more now after having 3000 miles on the springs.

pooky, so no need for a camber kit then? I think I'll go with 858's , but I'll get the shocks done at the same time. Then again, winter is just around the corner here, maybe'll wait till next year.

No cams, no shims

GINge...
Nothing but springs..with the 858s there is no need..unless you've got some
other problems but, bar that...it's a clean fit..
So far, the ride is nice, sure, a bit more firm but, a nice firm....

I also just replaced the springs. I had an all wheel alignment performed 2 weeks after the install just to be safe. My tech said that the camber on the front was ok, but he could only get the back to within -.5 degree of stock setting. He didn't think that it would matter. However, I can visually notice the negative camber. IMO I think I might need a camber kit for the rear, but I am very anal about rotating my tires (every second oil change), so I don't know if it is going to make a difference.

The 58's look like they give an even drop, and considering the 6 speeds are even higher in the front than the Auto's, I think the 103's will be a better choice for me w/ the 6 speed. I was just aobut to order some CT springs, but not after I see them all rusting.

^^^ Oh yeah, that rusty comptech spring thread made my decision a whole lot easier....except now I'm wondering if an adjustable set up might be better, a good 2" drop for AutoX and then back up to 1" for everyday driving.
