Question Bottom Line: Do the '04 TL Wheels Fit w/ 2" Drop?

I am dropped around 2" all around on Tein S-Tech springs, and was thinking about throwing on some '04+ 5-spoke TL wheels. Yes, they're 17x8, and yes they're 235/45 tires or whatever. Will they rub without rolling the fenders? Or do I need skinnier tires? Thanks!

I'm going to say no. 8" wide plus a 45 offset plus 235 tires. All point to rubbing of some kind. May be ok with no weight in the car & rolled fenders.

You will be just fine. I'm on Eibachs and I don't have any issues. I also don't ride with more than 2-3 people in the car. In these pics I have over 100lbs of stereo in the trunk.

Bottom line........Test fit them & see. Cars are different. I test fitted 07 TLS rims/tires & rubbed on any bumps. The tires would hit the wheel well edges.

Yeah, it seems that there are many varying opinions on this fitment issue. With rolled fenders, you'll have no problems at all. I guess I'm lucky.

Well since were on the subject.

Bottom line 04+ TL rims, 2g Acura CL, no drop. Is there a chance in hell for rubbing? (i think no, cuz people claim no rubbing w/ drops, but just want to ask. No laughing)

I'm on 2006 TL rims with 235/45/17s and I rolled my rear fenders...no rubbing any more. (2" drop)

BTW...fronts never rubbed.

Yeah but the problem is that everybody's CL suspension is different though. It's kind of back and forth

Maybe if your suspension is compressed enough to get the tire to hit the fender. But I'll say no for 99.9% of situations. They will stick out of the car, I'll tell you that much.

This is so true. I feel like even with my stock suspension my rear sits lower than most because I've rubbed with stock 17s and stock 215/50s with 4 people in my car going over a speed bump slowly. And now that I have the 18s with 225/45s I'll rub going around corners with 4 people in my car. So odd.

youll be fine.

Eibachs drop lower than the S-techs, roll you fenders as a precaution if you want, but you will not rub. until your shocks blow

I just picked up a set of the TL wheels yesterday. What would be ideal tire setup to use with eibach kit? I don't want a lot of tire.. btw

i ran 235/45/17 on mine, it was fine...but i guess you could go down a size and stretch them, or run less tire if you want...not something i would recomend

they'll stick out of the car? Any more than in the pics of your car w/ em? They seem to sit nicely on your car, they don't appear to stick out at all.

I have 3G TL wheels with 235/45/17 w/ rolled rear fenders and lowered on tein basics. I still rub occasionally on big bumps and just me in the car. It is pretty annoying when it happens, but doesn't happen all too often (just on weird turns, driveways, highway dips at 80+, etc). I am thinking about testing out a 215/45/17 tire on the spare wheel that I have to see what it is like. There is a guy selling a tire for $20 bucks in the area, so I may snag it next week and try it out. I feel the $35 investment will be worth it.

Going back on it, I probably would have went with a 225/45/17. Also, if you are looking for a tire, the Kumho ASX All seasons are great compared to the stock tires.

I usually agree with what you have to say, but this is an area where I don't. If the CL-S wheels were the same width and offset as the TL wheels, I might be with you.

Here is a pic as requested. In a perfect world, I would like a little less tire and more drop.

and yes they do rub more that I would like them to with rolled fenders (I left a finger 1/2 gap on TEIN ssp's)

I just have never really liked those wheels. They look goofy to me.

Going from 235 to 225 is only changing the width of the tire. You may want to go with 235/40. That will change the sidewall height
