advice on rims

I'm considering a set of Volk's - 18x9 and 18x10, with +23 and +24 offsets.

From all I've seen here, it appears that +35 - +45 is the ideal range for a nice clean look? Please correct me if I'm wrong!

so given that +34 - +45 range I think is good, would adding wheel spacers to those rims that are +23 and +24, help me get to the +35 - +45 range I'm looking for?

Any potential issues I should be concerned with? Also, is the width x9 and x10 too wide?

Thanks so much for any advice or guidance offered!

No, adding wheel spacers would lower the offset further, not raise it. +23/24 would be a tough fit.

oh, thanks for correcting that misconception I had. I figured spacer meant it added more space and increased the offset.

what offset range would you advise? Am I close on the +35-45 range?

To settle on an offset, you need to take wheel width into consideration.

What are you going for? The stretched tire, poke look (hellaflush)? Or are you trying to keep it a bit more sporty?

Im currently running 18x8.5 +42. Thats the max I would go while still running a 235/40 tire.

You could run a high 30s offset with stretched tires like what BrianLin, Lippstuh, and pdiddy run/ran.

I'm running 215/45/18 tires with a 18x8 +35 rim and I rub in the front sometimes. FYI.

thank you both, it gives me a better idea now. I'm not trying to go hella flush or anything, more sporty and functional for the roads I live near (train track crossings @ multiple spots nearby). I definitely like the look of all mentioned, but I think going more towards civicdrivr's specs is the wheel/tire look I'm going for.

aznboi, i checked out your photo album, looking at #7 of your album...are those the 18's you referenced? if so, are you dropped in that pic?

Yes, those are the 18s although I've put spacers in the front and changed the tire since I've taken those pictures. I am dropped on H-tech with stock shocks. Granted the shocks are original so they could be a little soft but +35 is probably pushing it if your planing to drive it daily without worrying much about what you drive over.

i was on the setup your talking about (18x9 and 18x10, with +25 and +30 offset)
last year and had no issues lowered 2" with 235 tires and rolled fenders

I'm running 18x9.5 25 offset front ,18x9.5 15 offset rear
at the moment lowered 3.5" on 225/45/18
front fenders rolled flat and fenders loosened and bored the holes to pull the fender out about 2-3mm
rear fenders cut off with ziz wheel and grind down flush and then rolled/pushed up/out about 4-5mm

its honestly not that hard to get them to fit, just use this to gauge it.

how this helps..

If you're trying to stay away from body modifications, go with an 8" wide wheel with a high 40s offset. My RJ Legends were 18x8 +48 and I ran 235/40 tires with no rubbing and no rolled/trimmed fenders.

With the setup Im running now, rolled fenders and trimmed bumper tabs were needed.

civic, what do you think about either of these setups?

both sets are volk racing gt-v

option 1:

F: 18x8 (waiting to hear offset availability, requested anything +42 - +48)
R: 18x8 or 18x9 - same offset range as above. any issues you foresee running 18x9? They don't offer 8.5 in this size, so it is either 18x8 all around or 18x9 in back if I can get away with it.

option 2:

F: 19x8 (same as above on offset range)
R: 19x8 or 19x8.5

Can I get away with either option without having to roll fenders? any other concerns I should consider? Thanks for your advice, getting closer to a decision and purchase

Personally, Id go 18x8 all around with the same offset front and rear. I know it wont look as good a staggered setup, but at least you can rotate your tires.

18x9 shouldnt be a problem assuming to roll fenders/trim tabs. Talk to PDiddy to be sure, he's run wide wheels like that and can give you better insight.

nice points, seems obvious but i had not considered tire rotations. if i go same, it will be 18x8 or 19x8. thanks again.

well unless I can find some used volk's, these may be out. hard to justify $4K on new wheels/tires even though i love the GT-V's.

now scouting other options and came across these MRR rims:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-MRR-GT1-18...sories&vxp=mtr

any feedback good or bad on them? any issues I should be concerned with? they seem sort of mid tier, not too bad...but not volk's either

also checking out these from ACE:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-ACE-DIMEN...sories&vxp=mtr

and also these Enkei's

http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-ENKEI-RPF...sories&vxp=mtr

thoughts?

potentially considering some Work Varianza's, here are the specs:

19x8 +38 Offset
Tires: 235/35 -19

what do you guys think, will they fit ok? according to the offset calculator, it says it will extend 30 mm. Will this be ok, do you think it will be clean or will it stick out too much? will I have to roll fenders? I'm dropped on eibach springs.

lastly, the tires come with TPMS, which I know are useless to CL's. Is this an issue I should worry about or are they easily removeable? just rebalance after tpms removal? any other concerns I should consider?

Theyll fit. Youll probably need to roll your fenders though. Theyre technically sunken in further then my 19x8.5 +40mm (.25" = 6mm, the Works have 2mm on the offset, but when width is taken into account theyll be 4mm further inboard) which required a roll and bumper tab trim on the read. Nothing up front.

Correct. But if they are coming with tires mounted and you are keeping the tires, I wouldnt worry about pulling them out until you have to replace the tires.

thanks again, you are definitely one of the most helpful people on this forum. I also sent you a pm with more questions on the dt3's.

You may need to roll your fenders other than that no.

After months of window shopping, I finally got some rims! I bought black 19x8.5 RJ DT3's from civicdrvr...merry christmas to me

Hopefully ordering rotors and RL calipers next month...then going for the big makeover:

New tint
Install new calipers, rotors
Roll fenders, tabs
Put on new rims, tires
Paint, install RJ kit

I'm already dropped and depending on how it looks, may swap my Eibach springs for some coils...I'll get a build thread going next month
