Window rolled down by itself!

lmao. I got in the car closed the door and before I put the key in the ignition I saw the window slide down. And of course it wont go back up. I took it to the shop but what could have caused it? When the regulator goes out it doesnt roll down by itself right?

The cable stay on the regulator most likely broke. Do you hear the motor going when you try to roll the window up? If so, then get a new regulator. Dont spend over $90 for one. If you know how to use a ratchet and a screwdriver, you can do it yourself in about 30 minutes.

Yes the motor runs but the window doesnt roll up. It was so random though. one day the window works and the next this.

When you get the new regulator, look at where the cables meet the slider. Is cheap plastic with a flimsy metal tab folded over it. If there was metal on both sides it wouldn't fail. Its a horrible design.

Mine failed on me this past summer as I was leaving for work, right before a big storm rolled through

The motor could be bad. If your lucky it may have just fell of the track. Take off the door panel and check if it is on the track. If its not just lift it and put it back on the track. If not then the motor or cables might be bad. This happened on my Honda Oddesey.

there's really no track for it to fall off. The glass is secured to a metal piece by two 10mm bolts, and that metal piece slides on a rail with the assistance of cables. The only way that piece would come of of one another would be in a major car accident bending metal and twisting it. I just replaced my assembly last week. The motor was still good but the plastic cable housing broke and the cable unraveled everywhere. Same thing my window went down and would not roll up. I would recommend oemacuraparts.com they are an acura dealer in AZ. I got the regulator assembly which is the rail with slider, motor, cables, cablehousing, harness for direct plug in, and hardware for $77.81 fast shipment and correct parts. Also the install is really easy, the door panel is two phillips head screws, and clips. Once that is off all you need is a ratchet, extesion, 10mm socket. Also to get the glass of of the track there is a whole about half way to easily access the right bolt on the window ( I found it after I scratched up my hand). If you have any other questions let me know I would be glad to help.

Sorry for the bump but it happened again. Lasted 4 years! hahahaha. And I hardly ever roll down the window so it must be from opening and closing the door day after day that does it.
