What might cause car to tremble when sitting idle?

I can really feel it when in the drivers seat, but not so much while in the passenger seat. Its like a wave pattern. Trembles 2 seconds, goes away 2 seconds, Trembles 2 seconds, goes away 2 seconds, etc.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? More recently, I have been having problems with the vehicle stalling at startup, as well as acceleration problems.

I took the car into carmax and all they said was the egr valve was bad.

Would that bad valve be the culprit to all of these malfunctions?

Dirty, or bad IAC valve. Common problem. Search for the threads on it. It's not hard to clean or replace yourself.

I cleaned my IAC and the stalling went away but it still trembles a little but not that much.

Try cleaning it, and see if it goes away.

The error code that I got was my EGR Valve, not my IAC. I had it replaced, it stopped stalling, but I still have the suttle shake while idle.

I have the same shake everyone's talking about. When sitting in park you feel a shudder vibration that comes and goes...comes and goes.......about every sec or two.

I just got 105K service done....timing belt, drive belts, plugs, check for valve noise, etc. The car feels like brand new again!!! I decided to have the PS fluid replaced as well and boy does it make a difference! Steering is awesome now...just like on day one.

And replacing the spark plugs didn't fix or change the vibration, so I'm guessing it isn't related to that....same as before, so not exactly sure. The engine and trans mounts were also checked and other than a little dry rot, no issues with them.

So not sure on the cause.......maybe a slowly dying ignition coil??.....or something else?? Perhaps we'll determine the cause based on other's input and repairs they have had done....good or bad.

I also did a search and found lots of threads......lots of people seem to have this issue, reported with varying mileage on their cars. The majority seems to suspect bad engine mount(s) and others have many other opinions.

I hope someone on this board knows the root cause.

hey guys I had the exact same problem and went to three different shops, nobody could figure it out! However I got the problem fixed today down in El Monte. Suprisingly it was a rookie, about in his early 20's, who figured out the problem. Young, but he was talented! The Acura CL has two fans infront of the engine, he rotated them with his fingures and showed me that the right fan wasn't spinning on track, it was sorta wobbling. After I got it replaced today the annoying vibration was gone! Cost about $180 to repair. Goodluck guys!

I just had my tranny replaced and now I think the idle shake is gone. Feels smooth now. I wonder if the trans install moved something.

Yep, mine does it too, It's at the dealer right now getting a new front mount. I put the car on the lift and at only 51k the front mount is wet with oil from being broken.

The A/C compressor kicking on and off will lower the idle and create a slight vibration as well.

Honestly this might sound like its rediculous. The same thing happend to me. Car would go into low idle like it might die out. Then it would correct itself. One time, the check engine light and VSA light turned on. I was like WTF?! I kinda backtracked to what I did wrong. About a month earlier I installed new Irridum NGK spark plugs and nothing more. It ran excellent after that. So I thought it couldnt be. Then I could remember filling up at some shitty ass gas station. I usually put 91 octane at Chevron or Shell. Once I ran out of the gas I got from the shitty station I filled up with Chevron and it never happend again. I filled up many times after that at another Chevron or Shell and it still never happend. What im trying to say is maybe you got a bad Batch of gas or youre not putting Premium fuel in it. Is it still doing it?
