Hey guys whats up. I recently purchased a 2001 acura cl type s. And today i noticed a little weird shifting happening. so before i took it to a tranny shopped a got ripped off i thought i would check with the experts, It was pretty cold out today (14) so i let my car warm up for about 15 minutes then headed to work. What happened was everything was going good and all of a sudden when it was shifting from 2nd to 3rd the rpms went up to bout 3200 but it wasnt slipping or anything but just didnt shift for a second. Is this the start of tranny hell? And i have another question, I have always owned manual cars so i dont now if this is normal, when you are slowing down and the car down shifts is it normal. I meen to where you can see your rpms go from like 1000 to 1250 from every gear? Just curious. Oh and is it normal for these cars to drive around in 4th gear in town at 1250 rpms? Thought that was pretty odd. Bought the car from the original owner and it had 156782 miles but didnt leak oil and ran like a t rex. Had the honda shop look at it quick and they said that it looked like all the required maint. had been done and it looked good so i was happy. And the owner said that the tranny has never acted up and has never had to be replaced or worked on. Thanks.

 

Call your local acura dealer ,give them your vin 3 and see if you still are covered under the class action warranty. Mine does the down shift also when coasting and applying the brakes.Some times it holds a shift a bit longer when cold out.They are different...I guess..Many trannys have been replaced under the class action extended coverage..Good luck..
