washer fluid issues

washer fluid issues

my washer fluid wouldnt spray so i thought it was empty. bought some and popped the hood. the cap would pop off but wouldnt pull the dipstick out and it is seemingly stuck in the tube. i added some fluid and it wouldnt go into the resevoir. anyone had this issue or even heard about it?

Never heard of that. Is it totally stuck? You can't yank it out? Pry on it? If it breaks I see no real use for that dipstick thing anyway.

thanks for your response. yes absolutely stuck i pulled as hard as i could and the blue cap seperated from the dipstick. could it be frozen... perhaps some water found its way down there. im somewhat baffled.

Take the bumper off and see what's going on under there. Could be the washer fluid is frozen, though I've never heard of that happening.

Do you live where it gets cold? It may be frozen. Try running a hair drier on the tube.
If that is a no go then I agree taking off the bumper is the next thing to do.

follow up: definately frozen

2 nights in thew garage with the heat up and the hood up thawed it. i sprayed all the bad fluid out and filled it with rain x fluid. no problems since. thanks for your help guys i did not think that washer fluid froze.

I never knew washer fluid froze either. Guess you learn something new everyday.

washer fluid gets thicker when it's -20C outside but it doesn't freeze. I bet he had water in there. Did you lend your car to anybody not competent enough to know that you can't put water in there?
