So now, when i start the car in neutral i can;t get it into first. But it will go into 1st if i turn the car off. It's prob bad but I had to get home; I turned the car off, put it in 1st and start it the car will move forward on the starter and will subsuquently shift into all gears. Clutch pedal feels soft than gets very firm at the bottom.
My question is, before i pull the tranny does this sound like a bad clutch? Or could it be the slave/master cylinders?

 

My guess is slave or master cylinder, have you checked the fluid level?
