Hard to say without taking it to a Honda/Acura dealer. Could be as simple as a belt buckle which would get replaced by Acura for free or something like a bad airbag or airbag computer.

Mine has been on since I bought the car, just about 20,000 miles ago. I don't even notice the light any more.

By the way, when a bunch of other lights lit up on my dash I got the folks at Auto Zone to put their code reader on my car. I didn't get any codes for the problem I knew I had (VSA and ABS Lights) but that was explained away by folks telling me that you need a special reader for those codes. But I didn't get a code for my SRS light either, and that strikes me as odd.

Because the SRS system also spits out codes that can only be read by the dealer. The only lights you can read with this car is the CEL.

On page 23-28 from the TL Manual provided on your other thread, it states the following General Trouble Shooting Information for SRS DTC codes:

The self-diagnostic function of the SRS system allows it to locate the causes of system problems and then store this information in memory. For easier troubleshooting, this data can be retrieved via data link circuit.

-When you turn the ignition switch ON(II), the SRS indicator will come on. If it goes off after 6 seconds, the system is normal.

-If there is an abnormality, the system locates and defines the problem, stores this information in memory, and turns the SRS light on. The data will remain in the memory even when the ignition switch is turned off or if the battery is disconnected.

-When you connect the Honda PGM Tester to the 16P data link connector (DLC) to short the SCS terminal, and turn the ignition switch ON(II), the SRS indicator light will indicate the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) by the number of blinks.

-After reading and recording the DTC, proceed with the troubleshooting procedure for this code.

I have heard if the SRS light is on then none of the airbags will function/deploy. Is this true?

Will the airbags function/deploy:

Possibly

Page 4; post 143 states what the Owners Manual says.

I had the problem and before I took it to the dealer I called them and asked them about the airbag system working if the light is on and they said it really depends on the reason the light is on. In my case it was just the belt buckle(they replaced it) if its some other code it could hinder the airbag system from working.

I will say this In my first CL a 2001 my SRS light was on at the time I was in a head on accident that totaled both cars and my airbags didn't deploy and that might have been the reason why. So if you want to be sure your airbags work in an accident get the problem fixed.

My '04 had a defective drivers side seat belt buckle latch. It stayed "open" even after buckling my seat belt, turning on the srs light. Took it to the Acura dealer and told him after research it appears the latch for the seatbelt was bad. In less than an hour, I was driving away - problem fixed free of charge and under the lifetime warranty of the safety restraining system.
