Speedometer Needle

With my recent electrical issues that I been having, my speedometer needle went all the way around on me. The needle is at 0 mark, but on opposite side of the small plastic pin. So as I drive, the needle won't go up, because it hits the plastic pin since its on the other side of it.

How do I get my needle back into place? Do I need to open up the dashboard cluster and move it manually?

Any help is appreciate it...

You can try to pop the needle off the stem and reset it to 0, but I highly doubt that will work. It sounds as though your cluster got shorted out.

I see. The rest of the cluster seems fine. The gas needle and temp needle work fine. The rpm needle is working along with the middle center piece where it shows the mileage on the car and outside temp, etc.

Could the cluster still be bad? I mean, by moving the speedometer needle back around work?

You need to put the car in reverse and hit VTEC. That'll bring it back all the way around.

most likely have to replace the cluster or VSS but if the VSS was bad it should turn the CEL on......

Needle is driven by a voltage and the more that is applied the move it moves towards the max, you could try removing the plastic off and gently putting the needle back to "0" but since it is voltage driven, it will most likely go back around once you reassemble it

IIRC the mileage is stored in the cluster. Your best bet is to talk to an Acura/Honda dealer to see if the HDS will adjust that.

Depends on the dealer. Some will/can do it, others wont/cant. Call around, explain the situation, and find out.

Call Acura and Honda dealers. Honda techs are trained on the same stuff as Acura techs.

will call around and see what they tell me. is it possible that my cluster is still good and needle needs to be put back into place or does the cluster go bad in pieces? the reason i ask, is because the rest of the cluster is fine. the gas needle is good, the temp needle as well.
