Something I noticed comparing our CL to our Audi this moring

I have an '01 CL Type-S and my wife drives an '02 Audi A4 (1.4T). The Audi has fewer miles on it than the Acura but its well over 100,000.

What I noticed this morning was prompted by having parked to a Honda Civic at the bank this morning. I noticed the Honda's headlamp clear covers were pretty hazy. I cleaned and polished the ones on my CL over the weekend so they sort of caught my eye. So, because it had prompted my curiosity, I walked around to the front of the Audi and took a look at its headlamps. Clear as a bell, not a bit of haze on them.

So, how cum? Why do the Acura and Honda plastic covers scratch and fuzz-up so badly but the ones on the Audi do not? Two things come to mind, one is placement and the other is materials. I don't think its placement because the two Honda products I looked at had different headlight mounted in different positions. So what that leaves is the materials. Do you think Acura is making the clear plastic covers out of an inferior type of plastic?

Thats possible. However, my old Civics glass headlights would win the clarity contest between both cars.

Take a look at some of the early model G35s, 9 out of 10 I see on the road have horrible headlights.
