Short "ram" intake systems...

I picked one up for cheap, but it makes this loud humming noise almost like a hornets nest is under my hood.. You can hear it from a good block away at an idle. When I remove the filter and mess with the air flow it will get quieter when I restrict the air flow. Has anyone else experienced this?

When I rev the engine, up to about 3-4k, and let off, it actually sounds like a recycling blow off valve. And during acceleration, the intake is louder than most fart cannons.

Also, can you reroute the coolant line for the throttle body to stay behind the intake or is there a reason why it is ran around the front with the air line to the valve cover and then back under the TB?

but the humming is what I'm concerned about. I figured under WOT the SRI would be loud, but at an idle it is extremely loud, at a very concerning level.

I'm sure I don't have to ask this, but have you tried putting the stock intake back in and hearing if it still makes extraneous noise? Are your idle RPMs normal?

Normal. Any open element intake on this car will hum at idle.

Stock intake is back in and the noise is gone for the most part. The resonator has been removed so there's a little more hum, but nothing like what the sri is like. The company its sending another pipe but I'm getting an extension made saturday to make it a cai for now.

Thanks civic.

When I removed my resonator the humming was pretty loud at idle. I now switched to an AEM CAI and couldn't be happier. NO humming. Sounds great when you get on it.

I also have this problem and I'm trying to get rid of it. I may try to convert my short ram back into a Cold Air and see how that goes....

Is anyone running the intake resonator with a short Ram? I'm guessing maybe it would cut down on some of the noise?

Can't run the stock intake resonator with any kind of intake system. Simply won't fit.

i have the same resonating sound and all. Its normal. I took my car to the local honda-acura dealer and was told this is perfectly normal. The local (hop-up) garage said the same.
