Rust under weather stripping?

Have any of you had rust build up under the weather stripping on the doors where the side mirror is? I have a 2003 CLS 6-speed. The driver side one is bad. The passenger side is showing early signs. Have any of you had issues with this?
My acura dealer told me that he`s seen this before. I am now in the process of trying to get acura to take care of this even though my waranty expired in february 2008. I`m claiming that this was hidden due to the fact that it was under the weather stripping. Any replies would help.

Acura Canada contacted me today to let me know that they are willing to offer me $1000 as a good will gesture towards replacement of the door since my waranty has expired.
The total cost with labour and matching the paint with the rest of the vehicle is $2000. Any suggestions on what I should do? Also, their offer is final. Any advice would be helpfull.

This was a recall of some sort on the driver side door. I missed it by 20 days and they wouldn't honor it

My window trim looks exactly the same, it's like wet caulk it's so sticky. Anyone replaced theirs for a reasonable price?

Hey chunky I just bought a 2001 Acura CL type S and both doors are rusting there at the side mirror. Did the problem turn out to be weather stripping on the car or the weather stripping on the door? I can't figure out how water is getting into that spot but it is, every time it rains.

Thanks,

Philip
