Is replacing the arm rest my solution?

I bought the car with the armrest detached because the previous owner said it wont clip down. I screwed in the armrest, and as expected, it was stuck open. Is replacing the arm rest my solution?-photo892.jpg

I think replacing the lid is your best option. Scour ebay for a decent one with a good condition latch down clip. I need a new one becuase all the foam decomposed and its now hard as a nail to my elbow. I suppose they are all bad by now..........

take off the leather and add some foam to it! You can re-purpose this DIY: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...-640667/page2/

I didn't even know there was supposed to be foam under there! It feels like I'm resting my elbow on a piece of wood. I'll scour a junkyard for one so I can see how it's supposed to clip down. The ones on ebay look like they don't even have clips.
