Remodeling: 2001 Acura CL

Hey everybody, what's up?

I'm new to AcuraZine, pretty new to 'remodeling' ("customizing") my car, or a car in general. So I figured a forum would be best route.... So don't let me down!

So basically, I'm looking to completely remodel my 2001 Acura CL ( I'm not sure which submodel it is, Premium or Type-S?). I am currently still paying on the car, I feel I kinda got dicked... It had 146,000+ miles, ripped upholstery, someone keyyed it, the radio doesn't work well, and the SRS light is constantly on... Payed $1760 down, 21 payments of $260...

Ok. So I'm looking to bring the 2012 technology to my 2001 Acura CL. I'm hoping that if I can just give you guys an idea of what I'm looking for, you could point my in the right direction. . I have no clue what I'm doin'.....

Basically though, off the top of my head, I'd like to fix the outside ( exterior; body-kit, paint, rims, etc...), inside ( interior; uphosltery, audio, etc... ), and of course performance...

So....I just need a little guidence... Gimmie' your

Lets start with your budget for each area or total money you have to spend on the remodling.
Anyone can give you pipe dreams but,if the funds are not available then it wont happen.

Well I'd hate to call pipe dreams; when it's possible. I was debating on whether to just ride it out or fix it up... I've decided I'm goin' to fix it up.. So I'll be putting money into it from here out... I'm thinkin' like 15k - 20k; over time of course.

I'm basically looking to replace everything...
I guess a list of parts / est. price would be a good start. I need to map out what I need to buy first.

Just lookin' for some help; At the very least, hypothetically what do I need?

Ha.... No man... All I saw was some kid tryin' to fix his car up and a lot of hating. Now, he did have a 'distinct' 'style'.... But, I'm not goin' for that.. I'm just looking for a list the parts I need to get ahold of to acheive what I want... If this forum can't help, I guess I'll just have to google some shops; probably get dicked over..

Could someone just come up with a list.? Pretend that your remodeling your own 2001 CL....
I'm thinkin' some shade of black or gunmetal... One tone.

You'll find a lot by searching but here's a start.

Has the 105k service been done? (timing belt etc). What other maintenance has been done?

Google image a CL type S engine and if yours looks the same, you have a type S. There is also a type S badge on the trunk unless someone took it off.

For paint personally i think something similar to the factory anthracite would be sick, maybe some more flake.

Check your local junkyards for seats or go on carpart.com

Put in a quality double din stereo/nav and get rid of the factory radio.

Lower the car - search this site...a million threads on it and most manufacturers have pictures on their websites of a CL lowered on their setup.

Get some DC headers, lightweight crank pulley, intake, rear sway bar. Remember though you have an auto, so your tranny will likely cause you problems at some point. Consider putting in an oddy tranny. Info here: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-problems-fixes-70/another-solution-my-auto-cl-guys-758220/

Post some pictures of the ride. Go on imageshack or photobucket and upload the pictures and past the link in your thread. Also, pay off your car if you're ready to put in 10 grand into it, lol.

I wouldnt restore/remodel a CL. A good paint job costs about half of what the car is worth, and thats money youll never get back.

Just keep saving up for a new transmission.

Fix the problems first, then maintenance followed by stashing 3k dollars away for a new transmission in the future. Let us know what you have left after all that and we'll direct you from there.

Gnuts: I have no clue, I got it from shadey dealership... I don't like the guy..
Yeah, of course....It's a work in progress, I just wanted to know what I needed..
The tranny though, it's a his/her shifter ( slap shift, whatever you wanna call it ) . It feels decent..
It doesn't have a "S" on the shifter or on the back.
But I'll check and throw some pictures up tomorrow.
"factory anthracite", that sounds alright. I'm thinkin' dark on the outside light ( grey, white, or cream ) on the inside
OR light on the outside dark on the inside...

Civicdrivr: It hasn't gone yet... I'll have to have my friend take a closer look. Only thing he said to look out for is something dealing with my RPM, it's constantly at 9.8, 9.9; even when I'm stopped... But I definitely hear what your sayin'. If that's the case though, why put any money into it?
Fuck it. The outside is alright, just a key mark down the side.. I'd like to fix the interior up regardless. Uphostery / audio.

anzboi2424: Heard that.....Thanks.....

If you run your nail over the key mark, can you feel the ridges? If not, you can just polish the key mark out.

Yeah, only on the end of the car though. It's almost down the entire car. It's only bad on the end though.
