hi all! im wondering before going to get a new alternator...one day a realise that my dash light was dimming at idle as soon that i was reving the ingine everithing was normal..a couple day later my defrost radio wiper fan etc was on and suddenly at a stop light my dash light, whent out and my gas and rpm gauge when to 0 but my car did not died becose i rev the engine and everithing came back but was still dimming alot! ariver homme 3 min late shut of the car!! and i hade to bost my car the next morning to star it whent to the shop was told to chage my battery... 5 min late light dash light was still dimming at idle...all grounds are good..is my alternator going? and by the way wy does my daylight dim at idle but not my H.I.D? thx for the help!! its the original that i have whit 120miles on thx

 

The HID wont dim because they have a ballast that holds and converts the current.

Im not sure how it is in Canada, but down here we have auto parts stores that we can take parts to and have them tested. Your alternator could very well be dying. Id have the alternator tested.

 

Probably easier to test the charge of the alternator on the car while it's running versus removing the alternator just to test it. All you need is a voltmeter.

 

done deal it was my alt that was going replace it and its all good for now lol no more dimming light thx
