OK,

So when my car is on there is a smell almost like burning plastic melting. I dont think it's coming from the engine compartment b/c I poked around in there while the car was running. Could I be burning oil / gas? Any feed back would be appreciated as always. Thanks.

 

Does it smell on the inside of the car or just on the outside?

 

It has smelled both inside and out. I notice it when getting out of the car after extensive driving. Maybe bad Alternator? Not sure. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Hey same problem!

I smell a faint burning odor. It seems to come and go, never really strong but there for sure. I changed out the cabin filter and didn't see or smell anything unusual in there. I can't associate it with any driving conditions or controls. Anyone else?

I am not a guru like other members but I have felt many strange and different odors produced by the cat converter... some odors they produce are very disgusting... also, I suggest you sniff arround the fuse box (passenger side dash board, where it meets the door)... do you feel it specially when using the a/c or heater? also try sniffing near the seat, remember seat heater...

Oh no def not what I was experienceing. If the Cat goes bad there is always str8 pipe right!? (not really... that would probably sound like shit)
