Navigation problems with updated disc

I just recently upgraded to the 3rd disc version for the navigation system from v2 and v1. I wish I hadn't. First we started out with intermitten 'disc error etc' so I returned the disc. Tried to insert disc v2, but it won't take. 'Disc error etc'. But v1 worked. Got another v3 and inserted it. No download procedure like previously. Now it having problems.
1. While driving, the street name is in the bottom blue part of the screen. When I go through a mild canyon, at different spots, the system will lose the street name, but still follows the road AND if I touch the GPS signal it will give me the right location. But when I return no street name on the bottom. Yet once I exit the canyon into main city, it still doesn't re-aquire, but it will follow the right road. (and the GPS signal is green bars) Once again if I push the GPS symbol it shows right location. If I restart the car/reboot, it will re-aquire. I have done some testing and driving anywhere else beside the cyn the GPS holds just fine. Also, I seem to notice that the GPS signal now seems to be flucuating more than normal between green (most of time) and yellow.
2. When just watching map, the map does not seem to "level" itself out when you make turns onto streets. It rotates, but the last 2 degrees its cock-eyed, but a second or 2 later it levels itself out. Never noticed this before.
3. If I remember correctly, if you move the joystick while the acura icon is on the map, the 'bullseye' moves from the top of acura symbol right? Now its apearing like 1/2 inch above or off to the side a little, but still about 1/2 inch from the acura symbol. Thats wrong right? It suppose to move from on top of the symbol. Some one confirm this please.
4. One time when I inputted a destination in mid drive, it didn't have my location right. Then when it showed 'proceed to...highlighted route' I had to drive like 1/4 to 1/2 mile to catch where the blue line started instead of the directions starting me from exactly where I was; on a main street. Plus the 'Proceed' at the top of the screen was frozen and once I found the blue line and followed it, it still stayed on 'proceed to'. I didn't know it at the time, but once again the street wasn't on the bottom of the screen.
5. When watching the icon move along, it seem to be a touch off the center of the road. In both blue line mode and regular mode. 2 times or so, the icon went way off course into no man's land while I was on the main street and Once it was while in the cyn at the time, yet the GPS icon knew where we were, but the acura icon was in no man's land. I have traveled via the cyn many time since and it hasn't floated off since. But the cyn name will disapear and the acura icon still follows the cyn road around.

This is pretty much it. Dare I ask if anyone else has had these problems. I have only found a few others who have similar issues, but no answers on how it was cured. I have the info for sending back to Alpine. The rates for checking and or repairing are fair. They want the box and the 3 discs.

Also, I did run the Dianostics stuff and everything came back Ok/Green/setting correct/etc.
Also, I must say, when I had v1 or v2 I traveled this same cyn and never did it lose the street or have any of the above problems. I am going on a trip this weekend and need the Navi. But when I return I am going to do a force download procedure of v3 again. If I foul things up, I will send it back to Alpine. But in the meantime, anyone have any suggestions or know of the problem or the cure?
Also, Car has never been in accident, and only has 63k and the Navi is hardly used and once again, I have not had any problem before v3.

Kind regards and thanks,
Chuco

what do you mean v1, v2, v3? The versions are in numbers like 2.00, 2.10, 2.70

There is a major problem with the newest update disk working in the Los Angeles area. I have the same issue and will be calling to get a refund today. I know of others that are having the same issues in the Los Angeles area as well. It seems Alpine is no longer making the update disks, this year it changed to Pioneer and they have had some problems.

I suggest calling Navteq and ask for your money back. Take your old version and Force Download it back so you have a working navi.

Yeah, i returned mine recently as well even though it was out of the "warranty" period. It seems they are now quite aware of the issue, as when I first called to get my first replacement disk earlier this year they were a bit more defensive that it may be a problem with my car not their disk. This time they took it back no questions asked.

Has anyone gotten the new Navi v2.8 update disk yet? Wanted to know if they fixed the issues for the Los Angeles area before I buy it. This new update disk covers the following cars

Acura RL manufactured 2000-2003
Acura TL manufactured 2000-2003
Acura MDX manufactured 2001-2002
Acura CL manufactured 2001-2003

I called the 800 number to order one but they have no idea if previous technical issues were fixed or not (another gripe of mine).

Thanks

I'm looking to upgrade. My poor 10 year old navi always thinks I'm off roading....

I don't want to update if there are problems. I live in AZ, but I don't know if that makes a difference.

Nav DVD

If you can get the second disc you will be golden. Stay away from that current 3rd disc.

There's more then 3 dvds that works with our cars. There are at least 8 different 2.xx versions out.

I am only speaking (which I thought would be obvious) for a 2003 CL Type S. My story above only discusses my difficulties. As far as I know based on my experiences there are 3 black discs for the Acura CL Type S that I own. Use my story as a guide to your problems.

Chuco, there is a new update disc for the 2003 CL Type S every single year. That means that there are over 7 update discs.

If your v1 is the original disc, then it is probably the 2003 disc.
However, your v2 and v3 could be any years between 2003 and now.

I guess what really matters is, "What is the latest update version that has no problems?"
