+1 for brake position switch. make sure it is adjusted properly. Does the car go in and out of park normally?
I second this, that was my problem. If you have to use a key to change out of park, this switch has gone bad. Most Acura dealers have this part for about $40, there's plenty of youtube videos on how to change one out, very easy to do.
If you have absolutely no brake lights working, no light bulb indicator lights on your dash and your bulbs light up like normal when you have your lights on, you have a stoplight switch issue. The stoplight switch is located on your brake pedal assembly under your dash and looks like this:
I had a similar problem and I am still chasing it down on my '02 TL Type S. I've changed the stoplight switch, checked the fuses and relays under the hood and verified the bulbs. What's interesting is that when the dash brake bulb warning light is on, then the main brake lights work. When the warning light is off, only the third light works in the rear window. Very Odd!
I've taken it to the shop (honda/acura specialist) and they can't chase it down. The bad thing is that it is an intermittent problem and they said bring it back when it's not working. Guess what, EVERY time i take it in, the problem vanishes.
Am I crazy?!?!?!? Is this happening to anyone else?
