Malfunction Indicator Lamp

I've had my 2002 CL-S for six extremely enjoyable months now. The other day the M.I.L. stayed on and this is the weird part...after a few miles both the VSA indicator and the VSA Activation Indicator illuminated. After bringing the car to a stop the engine had a very slight RPM pulsing fluctuation, maybe two or three hundred RPM which stopped after 30 seconds or so then it seemed to idle a bit on the low side. I parked for a while then on start up the same thing...first the MIL stayed on and after a while both the VSA indicator's lit up.

I'm the second owner, previously very well cared for and there's only 41,000 Km's on the clock.

The book says it's an emission problem and the Stealer says they'll see it on Thursday and for $87.00 their wiz-bang diagnostic super computer will tell 'em just how much more they can pick my pocket for. Any help, suggestions or comments are appriciated before I take it in to Dr. Acura.

I would never of guessed it was some saw-toothed rodent gnawing through the knock sensor lead...

I wouldn' t have believed it if I didn't see the old one. Three quarters of the wire was gone and both ends were frayed and looked like they'd definately been nibbled on. A little under three hours labour to get at and replace.

The tech said it's not unheard of and assured me that the new wiring would be a tougher chew. Anybody got a Squirrel Gun for sale?

An Acura Tech told me rats like to nibble under the hood. He recommended rat poison around in there. I thought he was joking at the time, who Knew.

Yeah, in lawn mowers, mice like to chew on the sparkplug wire...

I don't know why they do, they just do...
