Trunk Won't Open

I have a 2001 Acura CL 3.2 with 33,000 miles. My trunk won't open electrically. First I tried to check if there was a blown fuse. I did not see a fuse for the trunk. Then I discovered my driver's side seat won't move in any direction. There is a fuse for that and it was blown. The passenger side seat was OK and so was the fuse. So I tried to put the good fuse from the passenger side seat in for the drivers side seat and it blew as soon as it made contact. Is the drivers seat and trunk on the same fuse? It seems so. Is there a way to unplug the seat and try a new fuse and so if it blows? This would indicate that the problem is the seat and not the trunk. And what would cause the fuse to blow? Any help would be appreciated.

dont know if this will help. i work for nissan and the 04 maxima has a bulletin for a symptom just like yours. the maxima has the front seat motors and the trunk pop in the same circuit. problem is the seat lumbar support wiring under the seat cushion rubs against the seat motor worm gear causing the wiring cover to chaff off and shorting out the circuit. try unplugging the seat harnesses from the body connectors and see if the trunk works though it might need to be connected to complete the circuit so it still might not work, in which case look and trace the wiring under the seat to make sure theres no bare wires. hope this info helps. good luck

Ok. Here's what I have discovered so far. First , I was wrong about nothing works in the seat. It appears that the only thing that doesn't work is the slide and the front up/down. The rest of the seat works(recline, back up/down and heater). Now for the elimination process. I unplugged the trunk locking mechinism inside the trunk lid. Put in fuse, it blows immediatly. That rules out the trunk. Next, I unplugged the slide motor under the seat. Put in a fuse. Fuse blows. That rules out the slide motor. I'm not sure which motor is for the front up/down or if I can even get at it. So next I unpluged what I think is the plug that supplies all power to the seat(large plug under seat). Put in fuse. It doesn't blow. Check to see what works. Nothing works on the seat and the trunk does not open. It would seem to me that the problem is somewhere under that seat. My next attempt is to try and unplug another motor under the seat(the front up/down) if I can determine which one that is and if I can get at it to unplug it. I may have to remove the seat. Is this a difficult procedure? How about some instructions from someone who has done this before? Thanks in advance.
