I just fixed this noise
I recently like a month and a half ago replaced my lower ball joints after an annoying clunking noise from my suspension. Now I have the same noise but way worse from the same area, I was told that my tie rods probably needed to be replaced so now I have new ones on the way (inner and outer on both sides) but does this sound like its the problem or do I have a bigger problem??
My clunking was the upper ball joint hitting the strut tower.
It's easy to check you tie rods.
Turn your wheel so you can get a hand on the outer or as much as you can grab.
Pull in and out the normal motion it would travel.
If you feel it clicking,then,
Look closer if there play on the outer you will see it right away.
If it the inner the outer wont move at all and you will get the play (clicking) from the inner.
