humming / vibration, the shops can't figure it out.

My 01 cl-s makes a humming vibration noise while going straight, it becomes audible around 35mph and gets louder the faster I'm going. it goes away completely when i make a left turn, but gets louder when i turn right. dealership reccomended tires so i got new ones, didnt work. sears auto said wheel was bent, got new wheels, didnt work. then today my local shop said the drivers side wheel bearing is bad, replaced that. Still making the same noise. they suggested the passenger side bearing after they realized it's still making the same noise. ugh anyone have any ideas? im running out of money.

Check the alternator, common humming noise on honda v6. Is it a whinning noise as you press the throttle goes higher? Check the alt. if it's a Delphi brand replace it.

Bad wheel bearing

I think I have the same issue with my 06 CL-6 6 speed. It has pretty agressive Toyo tires and I have been blaming them for the obnoxious drone (everyone says it sound like I am flying a smal turboprop plane when on the cell phone).

Did they replace all four wheel bearings to be safe or were they able to isolate the one that was bad? What is the approx cost?

Thanks . . .

It was a bearing

Front drivers side bearing was bad. They diagnosed it with a stethoscope of all things.

Anyway, $283 later, shes smooth and quiet.

Good shops would put the issue on a ear chasiss (microphone suspension detection tool) and would pin-point the problem. Sad to hear that after all that repair it was a wheel bearing.

My "03 (not 06) is at 80k now but the noise started at about 65k.

Dealer says they see very few bearing failures on the "newer" CL's but they are more common on the "95-98''s and such.
