I have a humming sound coming from my intak...any thoughts?

 

If its an aftermarket intake than its probably normal, if its just the air box its probably not closed all the way

 

^^^ cudnt have said it better myself...

even if its aftermarket make sure all the metal bands are in place and properly fastened...

 

My Car does the same thing but its really Loud, it can be heard from a distance. My friends know its me when i pull up without having to look out the window. All of my hoses are attached correctly and all bolts are tightened.

I bought my car with this problem but i did however notice that my intake resonator is missing as well as my entire factory airbox. It was replaced with a Short Ram AEM Intake (was originally a cold air but the previous owner disregarded the bypass valve and put the filter where the bypass valve would go)

Idk about you steve but i need to find a solution to this problem. Do i need to get the factory pieces back to solve this issue? I'm also interested in the Comptech Icebox, would that setup get rid of this noise?

^^^ is it a whistling noise ? or a humming sound when you accelerate ? does the whistle stop when you get on the gas ?

 

The short ram intake is what is causing the additonal noise from the intake.

You mentioned that getting a stock intake or the icebox would solve the problem and that is true. The stock intake is obviously stock quiet and the icebox is the quietest intake that is made for our cars.

 

Its not a whistle it is a loud humming and noise but it does stop when i tap the gas.

You gotta be more specific bro. If it's a whistling sound then their might be a hole somewhere on your intake.

 

check you intake manifold/manifold cover bolts....

when i stripped 1 bolt i used to hear this loud humming almost a whistle kinda noise....there was a little leak from the broken bolt.....

when i was on the gas everything was fine, the minute i was at a stop light or in P or any gear, the noise was insane....

I've checked my intake and if there was a hole or a whistling sound, at this point i would know about it...The noise i'm referring to is an obnoxiously loud humming sound.

I can relate, going to check them tomorrow afternoon...
